Im back and forth with the two now...which is normal I build diff coils everyday thats just me wife thinks I have a problem lol. I like to tinker around but Im getting same vapor production with one coil as opposed to the dual. So my thoughts are why go dual in this case at least. Was wondering what otherppls thoughts were on it.

Have u tried twisted single coil in your patriot and igo ?
Nope. Pretty satisfied with my simple microcoils. I've vaped my buddie's builds with twisted and parallel coils and all kinds of exotic coils. I wasn't impressed enough to go through all the bother. I don't particularly enjoy building coils like some people do, I just like to vape.

In 3 and a half years I have reached the point that I can wrap a microcoil blindfolded(maybe not really :p) and tried just about every little "trick" on here. Single coil, double, triple, quad, parallel, twisted, double barrel, dragon shaped, infinity shaped, big purple elephant shaped, etc...

In the end I arrived at the simple conclusion that for people who want to blow big giant clouds and that's all, a standard dual coil is probably the best output(barring future unforeseen changes). For someone who wants good flavor with a still pretty impressive cloud, a single coil is all that's necessary. There's just no point in the extra work, as long as you make sure the wicking and airflow are good.

Think you're right, my Kanger duals produce huge clouds. But in the end it's whether you want to spend 10 bucks for 5 coils, or a few cents and wrap your own. I'm getting to the point of wanting to wrap my own. Also being able to make any resistance coil ect, any wire size, on and on... yeah, think I'll get a rebuildable....

I use reos - bottom fed dripping.

I like a 1.0 ohm single microcoil on a RM2 (triangle RDA) and dual micros netting out at .5 ohms on any of: RM4 (atomic), RM3 (A6), or VA Cyclone with afc.

I find the vape characteristics are more complex than just vapor production - heat and flavour play big parts in the equation, as does the juice itself. I find that a cooler vape on a single coil with one juice is great, while the same juice in a different atty with dual coils is harsh. I also find the reciprocal true with other juices and atties. My preference for setup and juice to use varies with my mood and the time of day - it's a richer spectrum than smoking ever offered, and vapor production (while it has to be satisfying, don't get me wrong) is only part of it for me.

9 months and I haven't gone rebuildable yet.... I'm really missing out aren't I?
I used primarily cartotanks for two years and was quite happy with my vaping experience. I learned how to make the most out of what I was using, which is key for whatever juice attachment you choose. I tried just about every clearomizer on the market at the time and although easy to use, they muted the flavor and were often inconsistant in coil head quality.

I got a Genesis-style RTA last year just to see what all the fuss was about with rebuildables. Turns out a Genny wasn't the best RBA to start out with. I found using the SS mesh wicks to be a major pain to make and didn't care for the slight metalic taste. I didn't like how you need to tilt the tank to get better wicking, and didn't like how it could leak if not kept upright. Mixed results with the vaping experience. Just too fussy and unpredictable so I went back to my familiar cartotanks.

I even bought a bottom fed box mod. It didn't fit my style. It's in a drawer collecting dust.

A few months ago some kind soul PIF a Kayfun Lite Plus for me so that I could possibly help other vapers use one. Like any new device, there was a slight learning curve along the way, but I often call the KFL a cartotank on steroids now. Much easier to use and a better design in engineering and practical application than a Genny. My cartotanks are in a holding pattern.

Decided to give the RDA's a try. Even tried sub-ohms after wondering why they were needed. Its been a pleasant surprise.

The nice thing about rebuildables is better flavor, more vapor production, more consistancy than factory made coils, and cost savings. I no longer have to depend upon poor quality, hit or miss, cartomizers or clearo heads. If my vape sucks, I have no one to blame but myself because I'm in control. Cost savings are substantial. A years supply of Kanthal is only $8, a years supply of cotton is $3. No more spending $2 - $3 a piece for supplies that may be DOA.

So far all I have used is Kanger Duel Coils in my Aerotank Mini. I did discover something interesting. My first coil lasted me 3 days. On the 2nd day I took apart my vape for it's first cleaning. That is when I discovered the methods described for cleaning single coils I had found won't work. I still dry burned it. I then rinsed it with tap water. Then dry burned it again. It was fine at first but then on that next day it crapped out on me. The coil I am now I have not done with with. I wash my tank out with tap water and wipe the rest down with a paper towel. Same goes for the outer edge of the duel coil. Well this one has lasted me 12 days if you include today. Which makes me think the way Kanger has done these duel coils they require much less maintenance and if you do try, you might just end up screwing them up. I don't know how to rewrap coils and stuff yet. Plus my tank is made more for duel coil anyways. So I am happy using this. There may come a day when I get one that uses singles. But for now I am happy with what I got. What I am saving money wise on this is still far cheaper then what i was spending on analogs.

Which do you prefer? What builds have you tried? I have single coil twisted 28 gauge in my plume veil and a dual 28 gauge in my tobh both at 1ohm. I think get almost as much if not the same production with the single coil at 35-40 watts then dual at 40-50 watts.

I use 1x coil assemblies on my regulated devices and 2x coil assemblies on my mechanical devices.

I have tried building with SS mesh, SS wire rope, and silica of all types. Now, it's much simpler, as I only build with micro coils and cotton.

I try to build my RDA's and RTA's as they were designed for. in my kayfun's I like a simple micro coil @ 1.3 - 1.5 ohms wicked with cotton.

I have an aqua that's designed for dual coils but I hate putting separate coils in it. The mounting screws are a pain to work with IMO, so I have found the sleeper coils to work best - one piece of wire with two micro coils wrapped on it, one over each air hole @ 1.5 ohms and also wicked with cotton.

I use the aqua and kayfuns on a 30 watt device so sub-ohming those is pointless. IMO

I've got 4 or 5 drippers, but to be honest I've sort of moved away from them. They're just a pain to me, but when I build one, I build it like it's supposed to be built. If it's set up for one coil that's how I build it - one micro coil. The same is true for a dual coil setup.

I like building coils but I don't have the time. Between work, two pool leagues, pool tournaments, my sons baseball and boy scouts, there is no time left.
Oh yeah.... and squeeze the wife in there too. Can't forget the wife!!
So I usually build all my RDA's and RTA's once a month, maybe longer. I do re-wick weekly though.

I just wanna pick up my gear and it work right and work the same every time I pick it up. And for the most part, that's the way it is.

I'm getting a Vamo V5, because it's all I can afford in a pinch for now. Thinking of finding 2 18350 batteries to stack in it, but for now only have a panasonic 3100mah, so limited to 6v. Was looking at the lower cost attys like the Kayfun Lite... can I get the same amount of output from a handmade single coil as my kanger duals?
