Why do you use single coil vs dual coil?

I used to prefer dual coils to singles back in the mech mod era, ohhhhh a couple years back . To get the watts I wanted back then I had to run low enough resistance and duals helped with that.

These days I vape regulated exclusively. With these resistance doesn't affect watts so that's out of the picture. Yes, wire gauge is a huge factor, but I generally like the robustness of thicker wire. But my opinion on that has changed over time too :)

These days I use both dual and single coil builds depending on the atty. My two favorite atties right now are the Rose V3 and the Boreas. They are very different beasts. The Rose is a single coil atty I've currently got set up using 28 gauge Kanthal at 1.5 ohms and vape it between 15-20 watts depending on the juice and my mood. The Boreas is a huge atty that IMO needs dual coils to work well. I've got a 24 gauge build in it right now at 0.25 ohms I vape between 35-40 watts that gives me absolutely exquisite flavor. I'm pretty sure I could tone down the Boreas for a bit less power and tone up the Rose for a bit more, but for now I like both where they are. I also really like my Aqua V2 with dual 31 gauge Kanthal coils at 1.3 ohms between 14-18 watts.

IMO you can get pretty much the same clouds, flavor and TH from both single a dual setups ... but not in the same atty. It's really atty specific. For me the number of coils don't matter, they are just different ways to get a good vape if they are done right.

So I guess I prefer both single and dual coil builds. I know, I'm weird

Well just to let you know I am not a youngster. I'm an old man. I agree if you want to toodle vape or blow huge clouds or anything in between do so. I'm all about freedom of choice.
But these youngsters Bucks with .1 ohm coils on a mech mod with exploding batteries id making vaping look far more dangerous than it really is.

Vaping isnt vabout cloud comps on the street corners. Its about STAYING OFF THE STINKIES.

I like single coils in attys where I can center them, like with some of the newer 2 post attys, where there is enough room in between the posts to run a Z coil, such as the Stumpy, Hadaly, or the O-16.
Otherwise, I still use dual coil builds in a couple attys, currently. My favorite dualies are the Manta V2, because of the small chamber size, and the Nuppin.
I should add that I'm a mechanical squonker, exclusively; so the only attys I use are bottom feeders.

LOL.. great example.
And I have had a single coil in my Manta V2, atop my Grand, since the day I got them (I buy in pairs) from Tom (CAM).
For me, singles are "faf" free.
Wrap/attach/wick and no worries for a month or more.
