Have asked about this in the iTaste MVP v2 Owners Group but thought I'd share my sadness here too.
Only had this 6 months and today it's decided to stop charging. Everything else works and I'm vaping with what power is left but it looks like when it drains it's for the bin.
Have tried various charging methods and the girlfriend's is charging fine so it's the unit, not the chargers or charging method that's got the fault.
Lights flash as normal but then the green goes out so not charging. I've also noticed a smell from the charging port, reminds me of the old cap-guns we all had as kids [us oldies, anyway].
So the iTaste VV 3.0 that didn't even last 6 months and now this has put me off buying any more innokin products, loved this thing.
For anyone that has these or has had them in the past, how long are they generally lasting? I'd have expected at least a year out of them.

How many charges do you think you got?

Sorry to hear about this, especially after the itasteVV one as well.
Not being funny, the thing is great and lasted 3-5 days initially and happily lasts 2 days+ now. I'd be happy with something that lasts 24 hours to be honest, so even as it died it would serve its purpose.
All I can think of is the charging port flaw that existed previously wasn't fixed. I'm finding it hard to find how long these things last, Google was not my friend on this occasion, lol

Once the patient is deceased, an autopsy won't hurt it. Since you smelled something burnt at the charging port you might go ahead and take the bottom off and look around. Might be something simple? My first MVP is till very much alive and I don't want it to hear me talking about operating on it if it dies.

I had a quick look and innokin has the release date of the mvp2 for 20/8/13 (they have only been on sale around 10 months) so that's going to be the longest anyone can offer.

Do you always share charges with your OH, or does she usually use her own? Was it the same charger for the itaste vv v3 and mvp2?

Such a shame they both went this way and fairly quickly too!

Believe it or not, the VV charger died too, lol. Both use the chargers that came with the MVP's and mix and match as needed.
Yeah, know when it was released, just wondered if a lot were dying around the 6 month mark.

I think AW IMR batteries have a life cycle of about 500 full recharges, so i would have thought the MVP2 would be somewhere in that ball park too. Even if you charged it every day you should get a year out of it. I use mine mainly for when i am travelling so i probably only charge it once or twice a week so i am expecting 2 years+ out of it. I've only had it about 2 months and no idea what the official time they are expected to last is.

Read somewhere 300 charges is the norm, mine has been charged less that 100, roughly twice a week to begin with.
I don't think the battery is done, it's the charging port or a fault related to that this is the issue I'd say.

I can understand why you are dumping innokin in that case. It doesnt matter if everyone else thinks they are great (they dont!) but if you have had 2 bad experiences with them then it's enough to put you off buying more of their products. Time to treat yourself to a nice new expensive mod ;)

Must be that crappy UK power! ;)

I am curious, though; with a dead battery, does it still function as a pass-thru, with all the features?
Of course, if it's the charger, it might just be a completely dead power port...
I have had 2 MVP's since last October, both running fine, and 2 VV V3's (light use wife+daughter) still trucking along.

Still vaping on it now, working as normal. Just hit amber a minute ago so tonight's the night it dies. I'd definitely put my money on a port, may take it apart and have a go at fixing it in the future.

OP,

Do you use a wall wart or plug into a computer? Maybe the output amps could be the culprit? Or just a bad solder job?
As I said before, tried various charging methods and leads and all fail on this, fine on the girlfriends. :)
Looking like the port so yeah, could be a bad solder.

UPDATE:

Just ordered a replacement, went for a DNA30 clone, couldn't afford the real deal.

I have been dreading the death of my MVP's, and one thing i thought about is that the case should be able to take an 18650 battery.

I figured that when one of mine died I would take it apart, pull out the battery cells, and do the swap. I don't dare do that while it's still working, though (I really do like the MVP!!)

That's what's so annoying, I love the thing.
As previously mentioned, I've been stung twice by Innokin products now so won't be buying any more of their gear.
I was also pretty disappointed with the vendor, bought both MVP'S from them and they haven't responded to my enquiry and funnily enough Innokin haven't either. Looking on Facebook and the comments from others I see this is the norm.
I would be pretty cool if these could be modified, maybe someone will have a go.
