And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead managed to sap all life from three Evo batteries last week :( - I quickly remembered to unscrew them to avoid setting my bag on fire, but it didn't stop the batteries running down! Yeah, Trail Of Dead were pretty loud - when I gave up and went out for an analog, the windows of the venue were rattling.

I'm going band-seeing tomorrow and plan to take the penstyle, as I've heard they aren't so sensitive to noise. Hope this is true!

Very common on the auto switched devices, and is why I had to purchase a manual switched unit to take to the clubs.

Actually, very common with the EVO. Batteries are different. My RN4081's have a vacuum switch that activates when you create vacuum by sucking on it.
The EVO batt's have a mini microphone which picks up the sound of the air rushing by. EVO's are sensitive to sound. Most others are not.

My original Dura, Smoke51, and my M401 Ultra are affected by loud music, as well as wind (convertable or while working in the fields on a windy day).

I believe in the clubs or concerts producing heavy base that the sonic pressures are setting them off.

Greg

My batteries with the vacuum switches have never activated by themselves. The EVO's with the mic system twinkle like Christmas tree lights in wind & noise.

The DSE401 batteries are supposed to be the old vacuum switch and work with the m401s. I just ordered one (and a usb pass through) to try out for those situations.

The M401's have the vacuum switch. The EVO is interchangable with the 401, but have the mic. I have both.

i work in a noisy place. when i walk by some equipment it sets off my pen style. we have to wear double hearing protection. sometimes if i have to work on equipment i take my PV out and leave it somewhere so i don't burn it up. my general observation has been, if i can feel the noise it will set off my PV.

Pick up a couple of vacuum switch bat's for work, and keep the others for home. They shouldn't go off at home unless your wife yells at you a lot.

Well, my penstyle worked just fine last night, although the band (Camera Obscura) were admittedlty nowhere near as loud as Trail Of Dead! I managed a few sneaky vapes between songs when the lights were down, though by boyfriend noticed and claimed everyone around was staring at me (yeah, right) and grabbed a few big drags when I visited the ladies' facilities :)

It was one of these dumb, stoopid venues that doesn't allow folk to go out for smoke breaks, and I see they now have a toilet attendant who is no doubt ensuring there is no toilet smoking going on!
