Definitely don't start mixing your own yet. You don't know what you like yet and you will waste money on flavors you end up thinking are gross. You'll have plenty of time down the line to make your own after you find out what types of juices work for you.
For now I think yu should look to buy some sample packs so you can try a bunch of flavors. Check out BlueMist Vapor. They have sample packs of 5 that are 3ml so you can try them without buying too much in case you dont like it. They are only 10 bucks so you could get a few. Their prices are great and you can get juices in 80PG/20VG or 100%VG. You can also choose your nicotine level.
As far as a PV I would check out the E-power 14650. It's an ego type mod. Everything is replaceable on it so it keeps costs down and it uses non-proprietary batteries. The E-power batteries are $4bucks compared tO the eGos that are $14-20.
