I bought a Riva for like $30 (after 20% off) from Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510-T
LOVE it. You get two batteries (most expensive part) and a charger along with "cartridges". After using the cartridges I hated it since they required so much fiddling with.

I then got a vivi nova mini from Vision "Mini" Vivi Nova 2ML (clear) for $10.50 shipped. Its hassle free and doesnt need much fiddling with. you get two extra atomizer heads (these apparently burn out but I have yet to burn out anything in my 3 months of vaping).

Its a setup I recommend for all my friends since its so easy to use and requires little care. The riva come in different colors although pink/white come with a gold band (yuck). The vivi nova's kind of "mute" the flavor but the hassle free part of it kind of over rides it.

I know, this whole vaping thing is overwhelming with so many brands, so many different options but I think I found the best setup for a beginner.

As far as juices, so far i'm loving Custom Made Eliquid Mainly because the juices are so flavorful (with extra flavoring option of course).

See, that is what I'm nervous about. I don't want to dive in head first and end up ordering something that will be a disapointment and I have to go back to square one. As far as I know, I don't know of any local shops that sell vaping supplies. I know there are a few things I want and don't want for sure.

I want to keep the size as close to a cigarette as possible, I'm ok with a bit larger. I just don't think I need one of the set ups I have seen that look like the size of a sausage roll lol. I'm going to be using this thing at work, I don't want to draw too much attention to myself haha! I'm a girl so I like the idea of color options and LED tips that light up as you take a drag and blink when the battery is low, and I have seen some drip tips that are really pretty haha. I also like the idea of flavor options so I want something I can change out every now and then and not be confined to only prefilled cartridges with only tobacco and menthol options.

I'm more than likely making this seem way more complicated than it really is, I'm just a nervous nelly I guess.

You will get a lot of advice to skip the cigarette style look alikes. But frankly there are a lot of good choices for mini batteries and you are not stuck with just prefilled cartomizers when using one.

Brands that offer a very good product and great vape experience are smokless image volt, bloog, and smoov. I am using a bloog right now.

Cartomizers are super easy to fill and all of these brands offer unfilled cartomizers that you fill with our own juice.

To fill a cartomizer the easy way check out thee links -

I just moved from the ego style batteries to the bloog and I am very very happy with it. I strongly suggest getting a pcc - personal charging case, if you choose the mini batteries. I bought 68mm batteries - together with the cartomizer they are about the same length as a 100's cig. One charge lasts about 2 hours. However, you can also get much longer batteries that will last a longer time.

my bloog set came with a pcc and 2 batteries and 5 prefilled cartomizers for 50.00 - thats a bargain

I love the small size and ease of use.

no matter what you buy though you probably will want to try other things at some point. So no matter where you start just decide to have fun with it. Some times the peeps on the board can get really serious about their recommendations. But dont let anyone fool you - there is no such thing as "the best" because we all want different thing out of vaping. Just try out what appeals to you and think of your first purchase as a learning experience.

Well now I am intrigued by the e-go twist as well. I hate all the variable voltages that i have tried so far with all the gauges & button pushing :glare:

I too tried to stay realistic in cig size but that faded fast with use...as I said there is a learning curve in finding what you like & what works for you. The cig sized batteries don't last long on a charge. My first Ego was the 650 & when I held it I was "OMG this thing is a beast." Now I prefer the 900 just for the time it lasts before having to charge. You will find what you like.

I haven't smoked in 9 months & I have no desire in wanting to replicate a "cigarette." Now I am actually moving passed finding the "perfect" tobacco flavor and actually enjoying vaping all the yummy flavors out there.

I am with you on the "girly" tips, colors etc LOL....our shop gets an ear full when the hand me clearomizers with the whistle tips. I was spying some gorgeous, hand blown glass, tanks for the DCT (?) on-line just yesterday :)

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and advice. I ended up purchasing a Volt from smokeless image along with a clearomizer, blank cartridges and a sampler pack of their sweet prefilled cartridges. I can't wait to get my set up! I think I will be asking for the eGo twist for Christmas. My husband has been trying to get me to stop smoking since we started dating. I was showing him all the different vaping options out there and he is was just as amazed as I was. Now I just have to figure out what to do with myself until my set up comes in!

Mammacruz13,

Your choice of the Volt (my opinion only) is a good one. I started with the Volt package and quickly bought one of their X2 900 mAh batteries which lasts me all day. I also quickly went to the blank cartomizers and fill them with various juices. Finding your favorite is the main problem. If and when you order juice, check out EC Blends. They have a LARGE variety to choose from, but order minimum sizes until you find your "daily vape". If you want to use other brand devices, you can buy an adapter which will allow you to use Ego threaded items, or 510. For informational purposes the Volt is technically called a KR808D1 product and has 801/901 threads which connect your devices. In order to use Ego or 510 threaded cartos etc., you need to buy adapters which only cost $1.99 each.
Please Check out the Smokless Image specific forum and if you have any questions etc. use the contact Imagine thread, she is almost always on line, helpful and plesant.

ENJOY a tobacco free life.
