I have recently quit cigarettes cold turkey because I got a halo triton and I love it. It has been about 2 weeks and my throat is soar and I can't sleep because of so much coughing and brownish phlegm that I spit up. I am sure it's just my lungs clearing the selfs out but what I have noticed, is if I vape for 10-15 minutes on my smoke breaks at work at the end if I take a deep breath I almost gag. Does any one els have this problem? I never throw up or anything but it's weird because it normally only happens once .

The phlem and coughing until you gag is your lungs clearing themselves of all the build up from cigarettes. The cilia on your lung cells are coming back to life, and are busy moving the tar up and out. I coughed up brown and black phlem for quite a while when I quit, and the same happened to me the couple times I quit cold turkey due to pregnancy.

These things you experience are classic signs of withdrawal, they may not be but do fit the scope.

Ty for sharing your observation with us here, we will be much stronger now knowing this info and spreading it around to help benefit us and our quest to become healthier human beings, while we enjoy our right to Vape.

I'm three months in and still doing it. It has lessened considerably, but like the other have said, it's the lungs "cleaning" themselves out. Kind of sucks, but for me, 25 years or so smoking menthols I figure it's bound to take a while. The upside is, it will eventually stop. The downside is everyone is different so could take a while, could end tomorrow.

When one quits smoking your respiratory system goes through a period of time that it readjusts. Think about it, you have been inhaling all of the nasty stuff from cigarettes, this stuff kills off the natural germs, bacteria and flora that make up the defense system. When you quit cigarettes (even without replacing it with vaping), the bacteria and such are not being killed off anymore, so an overgrowth is to be expected until the natural environment has a chance to reestablish. It is not uncommon to get a head, chest or sinus infection and also a sore throat when one quits smoking. I myself got a hellacious sore throat that made a ER doctor winch. 2 weeks in from quitting would fit right in line with the expected time line as well. I have quit several times and I have alway gotten sick in this way. Some people do some people don't. Address your symptoms so that you can get feeling better. If your throat starts to hurt too much go and see a Dr, you may need antibiotics.

Hope you feel better soon.

I did have a tough go of it at first. My lungs wanted smoke, not this vapor stuff, and they let me know it by making me cough and hack really bad. I visited a local vape shop and they switched me over to a 100% VG juice and that did the trick. I took it slow and only vaped that for a few weeks until my lungs settled down and I was able to vape a more common VG/PG ratio of juice. I now use a 50/50 mix and don't have too much coughing, but the lungs are still clearing.
