Hey thanks for the advice! I'm in Canada, so I've only been looking at Canadian sites so far since I'm not sure what the deal is with shipping that stuff across borders. I was looking at that Joye 510 kit - it seemed like a good deal for me since I don't know much about this stuff. Money is not an issue really, since in the end this is going to *save* me money if I don't buy cigarettes (I spend around $100/week on cigs), but I don't want to go out and spend $200 on an ecig just to find out that it's not for me... I'll check out that one you mentioned, $80 seems reasonable to me. Thanks again!

I'd recommend the New Vaper kit over at GotVapes, it's $80 but you'll just toss that $40 kit and want something better. IMO that's the best sub $100 kit out there.

If money is an issue, litecigusa has a Joye 510 starter kit for $35. Get the manual battery type and some Boge 510 cartomizers from the same site. They can be refilled several times.

I prefer Vermillion River juices, they have an excellent deal on a sample pack of flavors.

Yeah - I can see that happening to me too at some point :). Not only do I really want to be able to get off regular cigarettes, I'm also a bit of a tech nerd so I can see myself wanting to try out different/new ecig gadgets all the time if I'm successful in making the switch :). Oh well, so it goes...

The key for me was that I'm more excited about vaping than I ever was about smoking lol. I've giddily spent a ton of cash trying different setups and juices.

I've bee smokefree for year (well it'll be a year Tuesday Aug 28, 2012!) I finished off an open pack that I had then just never bought another. I haven't had as much as a single puff in all this time. How I did it was to tell myself if I wanted a smoke I could have one. I told myself that if I had one, it wasn't a failure only a minor set back. I also told myself that what mattered was the number of stinkies I didn't smoke, not the few I did. This worked for me, it kept me from smoking, period. It freed me. Gotta say, though, at 5 months, I had an evening of cravings were the worst I ever experienced in my life. That night I had to chain vape 24 mg juice. But, I survived & didn't give in.

Good luck in your quests, everbody, to quit the stinkies. I smoked for 45+ years & I quit rather easily all things concidered. I always say that if I can do it anyone can. Happy vaping.

That's awesome, congrats on quitting... Just out of curiosity, what type of kit would you recommend for a noob? I've been told I should definitely get something 510 so that I can mix and match parts easier in the future if I stick with it. I'd like to find something in the $30-40 range that I can refill using liquids (so one with a tank I guess? I'm still not sure if you can refill the other types of cartridges, I keep finding different answers for that when I google it).
You can refill everything, except maybe disposables because they might be glued together.

Cool. I guess I'll give the 18mg a go for my first order then :).
It's better to go too high than too low, generally speaking.
You can always "water down" something too high, but you can't fix too low.

The best thing to do is get 18 and 24 of the same flavor, and then you can mix them to get anything in between.
But you can do the same thing by mixing two different flavors too.

Personally, after many different suppliers, and getting ripped off and paying too much $$ over and over, I went for the KGO starter kit, it's $43.99 at Hoosier ecig. And I've been, and compared, to almost every supplier on here. I'm a one stop shopper...so, the juices are priced lower than the others too..for my Dad, the KGO starter kit, with the USA Mix by Dekang (50 ml for $10.99, probably lowest on the net), then, I got him two Stardusts Clearomizers to start (they vape much better than the carts that come with it, and where you'll graduate to, anyway) and it all came to $60.00 total, INCLUDING shipping. He was set for a month.

I took him to the highest mg hoosier carries: 24 mg. I even have a 10 ml for ER cravings myself.

If you're just starting, I wouldn't suggest starting with tanks yet - ease yourself in to the e-cig world first.

If you were fleeced by the $150.00 deluxe crap kits, you may already have chargers. If so, and you're REALLY on a tight budget, KGO has just come out with the budget conscious 'pass through' kit. But you've got to have a wall plug for a USB cable already (or a port to charge on your computer), and that's $24.00. Hell, if I had some extra $$, I'd get it as a back up. It comes with a lanyard, and a stardust clearomizer + 3 feet cord.

Also, a stronger PG to VG ratio will help, as well....perhaps get a small bottle of straight VG at a lower mg, too.

Hi Vinnie,
I guess it's what you decide. You sound like you have decided you are still going to have a cigarette sometimes. In fact now I don't even like a strong tobacco flavor vape

That's what it sounds like to me, too. In the beginning, I couldn't stand the idea of vaping a watermelon, or a chocolate juice..Only the tobacco flavored juices...now, it's the reverse! I do a choc/banana/coconut mix, fresh pineapple, and yes, watermelon juices!

I've been vaping for about 3-4 weeks now and at first I was smoking and vaping about 50/50. Something about mornings seem difficult for most people I think...not sure if it's because nicotine levels drop over night but that's what I suspect.

I don't think it's the nicotine levels, since that's what's in e-cigs, nicotine. You're probably waking from the withdrawal of tobacco, and the 200 or so carcinogenic chemicals in the analogs.

Last week I stopped having the morning cigarette but still smoked a few at bedtime and in the middle of the night when I would wake up. 3 days ago I completely cut out smokes altogether. So far it's going pretty well. I still have cravings in the morning but I grab the PV and some 18mg juice and vape on it until I start getting that nicotine overdose upset stomach feeling (you know what I mean).

Switch to another juice...that may be it. Perhaps one that's less sweet?

Gonna try to stay 100% smoke free from now on and right now I feel like it's an attainable goal but who knows what the future has in store. One thing I think is very important is that we vapers make our voices heard when the feds start creating legislation. I hate the thought of regulation making vaping more expensive than cigarettes...or worse yet, illegal.

Right there with ya!! The best argument the feds can come up with, is that it may lead to smoking. Moreover, they say there's no data that it has helped anybody quit. I say, come to these forums! Because before e-cigs, short of being under general anesthesia for 2 weeks, I wouldn't been successful quitting. Now, nearly a year off the analogs!

Moreover, the difference in my health is noticeable. My doctor had been trying to get me on cholesterol medication for nearly 5 years, because it was so high. 6 months after being off the analogs (and changing nothing else), my cholesterol dropped by 100 points! I am now in the normal range.

Then, it took nearly a year, but I can now actually sprint to 10 neighborhood blocks without losing breath. That's how fast the body starts recovering. :2c:

I had smoked for over 25 years, the last 10 or so being almost 3 packs a day. For the first 4 months after getting my first e-cig I still smoked about a half a pack a day. Been smoke free now for over a month. But I know others here who continued to smoke for a year after they started to vape, and if that is what you need to do then do it.

CONGRATS!!!!:vapor:

Lots of great response here I would like to thank everyone that has contributed and congratulate everyone that has completely quit analog you guys rock.

I would quit completely but haven't been able to find the right aty/carto that actually work perfect and don't need to be replaced often. Once that happens good chance I'll quit analog but I really do like the feeling specially after a meal:).

Keep the comments comments coming everyone looking forward to follow up with everyone soon and read more success stories.

Keep vaping everyone one after all it is better then an analog and does smell better.

Depending on what hardware you have (510 / eGo/ etc...) I would suggest a Kanger T2 tank....It is a replaceable atty tank system that is right on budget ($3.95 on sale for the tank with the inital heating element, and replacement heating elements for just $1.00 on sale). These taste way better than a carto, and easier to fill IMO. Might be just what ya need!

Haven't quit yet but order my e-cig today I smoke 40+ hand rolled cigs a day.. I have to quit and I am going to try cold turkey, I had my first heart attack at the age of 39 my doctor told me I wont live to see my kids grow up.. This is basically my last hope, My plan is just to vape my back side off I ordered the 18mg sample kit and the 24... I figure if that carving comes up I will just rember how my wife and kids looked when they thought I was dying and how scared I was... I know I need help the conventional prescription and non prescription alternatives out there juust don't work for a heavy smoker. And also I figure if I do feel like I am going to break down and smoke this place will be where I will come for support.. My personal CA meeting Cigarette Anonymous.

That is the first post I've read that mentions that aspect of smoking (LH=feeling in the lungs), and couldn't agree more! I'll try to help with knowledge I've gleened from reading ECF for several weeks. It's an answer but not an answer!?
Almost every variable you can think of could make that difference, e.g. batt power, manual or auto, cart or cartos or tanks, ohms, top coil or bottom coil, ratio of PG/VG, nic level, this company or that company, phase of the moon, etc.)
My feelings are, higher PG ratio, and\or higher nic, and\or maybe a smidge of menthol would probably be the big 3. Or there is the option of just 'pushing through' those feelings.
Well, that is my :2c: and YMMV.

Yeah...I've pretty much had to push through it...but, good thing is, it seems like I've been talking and posting about these few cravings way more than actually having the cravings now...so, maybe the worst is over? Wasn't really that the jones was soooo bad anyway, just something I noticed!! I will say, menthol is about the only thing that does give me a bit of that lung sensation, but then again, I can't bring myself to "all-day" anything menthol...

Thanks for the help!!

I am pretty sure I know what you're looking for, and how to get it...

What you need is a hotter vape, because then you will feel it more.
And the best way to do that is to increase the power behind your vape setup.

You can increase the power by either getting lower resistance, or more voltage.

Thanks...I feel like I've done a ton of combo-ing, but you know, it's only been a month...so not really :p I do have a VV and did notice a difference in the temp...but didn't give me what I'm looking for. I'm SURE I'll never get it...the more I thought about what I was saying, the more I thought...of course it feels different...you're not inhaling thousands on thousands of chemicals and byproducts!! I'm SURE that has something to do with it...I mean, maybe "that" feeling was just all that crap that sticks to our lungs and make us unhealthy!!! Anyway, I haven't seemed to have that same, "I would kill for a REAL cigarette, RIGHT NOW feeling", in the past week

Thanks for the tip!!!
