Just about to order my Riva 510!! Excited! Hope I don't regret not going for a more life like cigarette version!

I'm curious though, do most of you guys on this site vape instead of smoking? Or are you, like me, using the e-cig to help quit entirely? Or maybe start of like me and just never get around to giving up the e-cig, I can see that happening to me if the riva is in fact as good as you all say!!!!

I started with the intent of lowering my cigarette consumption and fortunately wound up stopping all together. I now vape instead of smoking. Set reasonable goals, pace yourself. After failing to quit using gums, patches, inhalers and prescriptions I had pretty much resigned myself to dying a smoker. It was surprisingly easy not to light up after starting vaping. Best of luck to you, this place is a great support center/resource.

Probably most people on this board still vape, but if you think about it... the people who quit vaping probably don't feel the need to post here much, so a lot of that is probably sample bias.

Not sure what percentage of people quit smoking by vaping and then quit vaping, but I'm sure some do. Many go down to lower nicotine concentrations (even 0) and many just replace cigarettes with e-cigs.

I switched over from a 1 pk a day habit about two months ago, and haven't looked back since. I don't intend to quit e-cigs any time soon, and don't plan to wean myself off nicotine either. The way I see it, this is all the fun of smoking with none of the guilt!! :D

There is a ton of research around both the forum and the CASAA website, all of which supports that nicotine itself is no more harmful than a cup of coffee, and as of yet we haven't seen any research that shows e-cig users to be harmed by using them. In my opinion, that means you don't HAVE to quit if you don't want to. You're just getting your nicotine in a smarter, more efficient way!

You won't! I went with an analog type e-cig, and ended up getting an Ego instead. I look at the Safe Cig Micro, and really only use it when the Ego battery is charging. And it's not nearly as satisfying as the Ego is (the same thing essentially as your Riva).

So I regretted buying the analog look alike first and wished I'd found this forum first and gotten the BF and myself the Ego's first. Because now I have a $60 starter kit barely being used with six out of seven full flavor cartridges not used, and six other different flavors of seven packs of cartridges (@ $16.99 each) that will probably never be used.

I have a co-worker also using the Safe Cig Micro, and I might see if she's interested in those cartridges, so they don't go to waste. She bought her starter kit with us. I won't see her until next week to see how it's going for her (she's off all this week, and I don't go back to work until Wednesday of this week).

Welcome to the forum. I don't think you'll regret your purchase, and I bet you even end up upgrading from there. I'm pretty sure that I will be. This forum is a bunch of enablers! LOL

Welcome Dipsy!
I ordered my kit fully expecting to vape while tapering down on analogs. I began vaping Saturday afternoon and had one analog that night. Haven't wanted one since, although I do keep getting the feeling I should be going outside for some reason lol. As an extra bonus, I've also been able to stay away from all the thanksgiving leftovers!

Initially I thought it would be a stop smoking aid. Now it seems like a pretty nifty replacement. I do plan on tapering down the nic in my juice, so I'm not sure if I'll be a forever vaper or not, but at this point I'm loving it and don't really care how it ends up as long as I stay off the analogs.

FWIW, I picked an eGo. I'm very happy with the size and appearance, I don't regret not having a traditional looking "cigarette" at all.

Also, this is my 5th post, and now I'm going to go enter some contests. This bug bit me fast and I want goodies! Be prepared for a whole new addiction lol.

I have a Riva and they have a great battery. The cigarette looking PV's don't have good battery life and don't support 1.5 ohm cartos. Low resistance cartos give a little more kick to your e-cig. Check this PV out; http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...uality-3-7v-box-mods-19-5v-box-mods-28-a.html Check it out and read what others say. I carry two of these at work and they are great.

As for quitting. Probably not, but I find myself forgetting about it. Trips to the store, or going out to eat are no big deal if I forget to take a PV with me. I've been using 6mg nicotine for about six months, but not ready for zero nic yet. Good luck and take a look at those little box mods.

This forum is a bunch of enablers! LOL

lol, after having a good nosey around the forum think I'd definitely agree with that!! By analogs, do you guys mean real cigarettes? I quit 2 weeks ago, this is day 15 (Not that I'm constantly counting every second, min, hr & day that goes by, lol) I've been using a pretty ....ty e-cig I picked up a while back, but the battery and vapour from it is pretty non existent! And the novelty of quitting smoking & eating every tasty treat I can get my hands on has worn off now, so I'm going for the Riva rather than a 20pack of mayfair!

Not sure if I can agree with Nicotine being harmless, especially as it's so addictive and causes such a state of unrest when my body runs out! Saying that, my goal at the minute is just to get away from the nasty smelly tar sticks that have been ruling my life, and if the Riva helps I'll be happy! Think I'll slowly cut the Nicotine down and see if I can't get down to using the nicotine free juice, and then maybe cut the vaping down to just in the evening with a cupa, and then maybe just at the weekend with my glass of wine! Here's hoping!!!!

The only thing I'm really concerned about right now is making vaping as enjoyable as possible so that I stay away the analogs. My first order of juice was 18mg and the second was 12mg, only because the choices were 12 or 24 and I figured it was better to go down than up. Transitioning down to 0 nic is a nice goal but I'll take my time getting there.

I had no real intentions of ever quitting smoking, I thoroughly enjoy smoking, but the cost and the health risks finally started adding up. Picked up my Ego and have cut WAY back on the analogs (1 1/2 packs a day down to 3), and just ordered some 24mg juice to hopefully get off them all together.

I don't know if I will ever enjoy vaping as much as smoking, as soon as someone lights up an analog and I get that smell in my nose is the hardest time for me willpower wise, but so far so good, and with the stronger juice, and with hopefully a more realistic flavor it wont be such a battle heh.

I started at 24 mg nicotine and now I am at 11 mg nicotine. Check out my banner, I went down in nicotine pretty fast and feel fine about it. I personally feel that many of the additives in tobacco are actually just as bad if not worse of an addiction to part from then nicotine. You will feel a withdrawal when you commit 100% to vaping and when you think about it you are getting the nicotine so it can't be that your body is craving. For me I'm completely off the smokes. I didn't think it would work, but I wanted to give it a shot and I'm very glad I did.

If at all possible, stay away from 'real' smoke for a few days. Give your senses a week without any first or second hand smoke and then see what happens. I got my PV and went into virtual isolation with it for the first week and then went out to the local bar for a real world stress test... I nearly gagged when someone lit up next to me. It was amazing just how bad that thing smelled. On the up side, my local bar is non-smoking until 9 pm but they allow e-cigs during non smoking hours.

I havent had a smoke in 2 weeks, and everywhere here is non smoking! I've went for a walk a few times to see if i could in my desperation catch any 2nd hand smoke, but couldn't get close enough to anyone! Lol Hoping that by the time i actually come to sit beside someone smoking the smell will make me wanna barf, and not crumble at the knees as i suspect!

When I first started vaping I intended to quit smoking all together. I was using skinny bats and they were not very satisfying, so was was content with just cutting down on analogs. After I got my first fat batt (a Riva), I continued to smoke. After a while I noticed that my smoking went way down and I actually enjoyed vaping more. Eventually I just didn't light up anymore. What helped, I believe, was the right hardware and I juice I could not put down. Not putting too much pressure on myself also helped. After all, it's not how many analogs you smoke but how many you avoid.
