E Cigarette

Hello everyone,

I have been reading around the forum for some information regarding vaping and E-Cigs. I am going to be possibly purchasing one of the products for my father I have been reading around for awhile and am leaning towards the E-cig this way when he steps outside with the "guys" he wont look as singled out with the funny looking vape contraption. Although I may get it instead not sure yet. Anyway my questions are:

1. I have been reading these are safer than analog cigarettes but I have also read that the FDA found diethyl glycol and another crazy chemical in the fluid. Is there a fluid they sell without these two chemicals in it?

2. Since this is the first purchase and he may not use it at all whats a good cheap (without sacrificing quality) starter kit?

3. I have seen guys vaping the e-cigs and saw they have cartridges that they swap can the e-cigs use the fluid refills to save money? incase he sticks with it.

4. I read that some e-cigs have more nicotine than analogs while some have far less to none at all. What regulates the nicotine intake of these e-cigs?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks and looking forward to meeting you guys.

:)

1. The FDA did find diethylene glygol in a couple samples of some Chinese liquid. It came out some time later the levels were to low to be dangerous. No legitimate liquid supplier would use those. Propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin are the two most common carriers. Both are safe, although some people are allergic to one or the other.

2 I'd get him a Joyetech eGo kit. You need at least two batteries.

3. Yes, liquid can be bought to refill the cartomizer or tank that is being used.

4. The user will regulate the amount of nicotine being used. The liquid can be bought in different strengths, from 0 to around 45mg.

Thank you very much. so to avoid the possibility of getting these chemicals in the liquid stay away from Chinese fluids? Also I see you recommend the Joyetech eGo kit but I was kind of leaning torward something that resembles a cigarette. (I feel mentally this would aid in quitting) Is there a product you recommend that resembles a cigarette? Like Blu? Just curious with Blu are those cartridges refillable?

Sorry for all the questions.

thanks alot. :)

Hi 1Q,

If you think the cigarette look is important and will work for him, then you need to figure out what kind of smoker he is too. This may have an impact on what kit you get him to start with. I would recommend the Joyetech eRoll as a good cigalike starter kit for someone that doesn't smoke a LOT. If he is a moderate or light smoker, then this will likely do the trick. If he is a heavy smoker, then there is a VERY HIGH probability that the eRoll will NOT help him at all, and you will need to consider other options.

As for the Blu kits, I would just flat stay away from them. Vaping is all about what works for you (or in this case ... him). It is rare that someone actually likes the Blu kits but every now and then someone does. This would be my LAST option.

For older guys who remember when smoking was not deemed tantamount to animal experimentation, and want to retain the look and feel of smoking, there are plenty of good options. I recently got a Joytech eRoll setup for just such a person. It comes in white, black, or silver. I ordered the white starter kit and black atomizer shells, from a few feet away, it looks kind of like an analog. The PCC mitigates the weak battery issue, and its easy to carry spare tanks ...

Hi IQ. I see you haven't been on this thread for a few days now, but if you're still looking... I just bought myself a Joyetech Eroll. Comes with 2 batteries, so he has a backup and spend the extra $2 for another cone so that he will have 2 complete sets. I got mine at Americanecigarette.com, it also came with 15ml of ejuice and with free shipping I spent $55. He will have everything he needs to start vaping. I'm a pack a day (PAD) Marlboro red smoker so I ordered the 24mg nicotine tobacco flavor. I've been off the cigarettes for 2 weeks now with this set up. I can hold it like a cig or hang it in my mouth like a cig.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

I am new since Sept 2013. I had a friend give me the best advise so I wouldn't waste too much money on stuff that was crap. A few months in I like my starter kit I put together price shopping around. Here is my 2 cents... (other questions already answered by others)

EGO Twist battery. Smaller batteries you might want to get a bunch in case it dies while out. I got the 1100mah and it works well for me. Fully charged it will last awhile so I only got 2. The twist is nice because you can turn up or down the volts to your taste. I like that versatility with some flavors and situations (like out at the bars).

I bought a few tanks, the cheaper ones I liked were the Kanger EVODs. They are the same diameter of the EGO batteries, they look nice, easy to clean, easy to fill, and easy to replace the atomizers. I suggest to get a few of them and in different colors. This way you can sample through different juice in each tank and easily know what flavor is what color when swapping. I never tried carto's though so there may be a point to them.

Juice, buy different flavors. I've been finding websites that sell samplers using coupon codes found here. The best analog taste I've found is a RY4 mixture that has a smokey finish. I think it is the RY4 2 from Mom and Pops. Buy anything RY4 is a good start I found. It's caramel-ly and I also smoke cigars, so maybe that is why.

Overall I say find something like that, make sure you have enough batteries, and try different juice. If you run out of batts or have 1 juice that is terrible he will easily go back to analogs. I do see starter kits with EGO and EVODs. I price shopped out my own kit piece by piece.

Hope that helps!
