Dunno the reporter refers to an AHA statement and if you follow that link it comes up as 'has not been released to the public' I suspect its a year old tho as the heart lady talks about new research in the form of CDC survey released last monday, but is talking about one released last september.

The numbers aren't terribly far off 260k kids out of 30,000,000 or so in those age ranges - thats about 8 kids per thousand - the number I've seen was 4 per 1000. Of course she mixes in references to 2013 with increases from 2011 and when she says kids who hadn't smoked is that just cigs? or also cigars and other smoke?

But fairly close. I don't think 8/1000 - especially with kids who's purpose is basically learning, trying, experimenting - has much significance.

SFgate has also picked up the story

http:// www. sfgate.com/news/medical/article/Heart-group-E-cigarettes-might-help-smokers-quit-5709382.php

This is essentially the same article, but says that the ACS is also making teensy steps...

It would be too much to hope for an immediate full reversal, upon reading the actual science, but wouldn't it be nice if they were making their way towards seeing the light..

Fingers crossed that there is real movement

Even a small step is good if it is in the right direction.
