E-Cigarettes Under Scrutiny for Listing as Flight Hazard

The Massachusetts fire marshal is focused on an e-cigarette as the possible cause of smoldering in a bag that had to be removed from a jet on Saturday night at Boston’s Logan International Airport. Airport officials are asking the Transportation Department to consider classifying e-cigarettes as hazardous materials.

Leave it to the damn Darwin Award winners to manage to start fires and blow themselves up. Resulting in tightened restrictions for the rest of us.

This could happen to any device that is powered by a lithium ion battery. Although, with all the negative attention we already receive it's just one more headache while traveling above.

When Mech mods first started to become Popular, I envisioned someone Not Locking it and then putting it in the Luggage. Causing a Problem at an Airport or Flight.

Exploding laptops have nothing to do with mech mods.

Regulations state they need to be seperated for transport anyway. What's wrong with enforcing current regulations?

I thought this was going to be about a hazardous classification based off of the E-Liquids. I'm not surprised nor disappointed.

I'd say in time this might change because this means of course you cannot get e-cig in duty free.

last time I was on a flight, some bonehead tried to take a mod in his carry on that looked like a grenade. I got through about 10 people before him... I have never seen so many overweight TSA agents running around....

Well, what about fingernail clippers, common ball point pens, and bottled spring water, huh, huh, huh???
These were classified as flight hazards at one time, too, ya know.......and not all that long ago.
