Hi all,

I has tried to DIY some juice from VG and some flavors.

The issue of vaporing is very unfamiliar in my country so i dont have all ingredients here that i can use available in any store... for example it took me almost a month to find some one who can sell me VG...

so i need more information over the rest of the ingredients and i will be very grateful for your help:

Propylene Glycol - highly toxic in a pure form, you need to delute it to about 60% to have it more or less safe. so how do you get the safe PG, do you dilute it by your self or you have some ready product?

In case that it's diluted by you, how do you do that? please explain the process.
In case that you buy a ready mix what are the brands or as what is the product?

Flavor - I took some baking taste additions of vanilla. I not sure if it's the right stuff, plese explain what can products should i look for a flavors? how do i get the cigarets flavors? (marlboro, camel etc.)

Nicotine - is a poison and there is no way to get it here... not at pharmacy and not at any where else... tho i think that as long as i will get the TH from a PG i can work whit out it..

Thank you in advance for your help.

No Propylene Glycol is not toxic. PG vapor is used in hospitals to deliver inhaled medications. Propylene glycol is used in concert fog and in the SAFE kind of antifreeze that cannot kill a dog of a dog drinks a puddle of it. "Propyl Glycolene" is poison.

PG lets through the most flavor, nicotine TH and also nicotine irritation and make thinner visible vapor. It is also thin and works very well in cartomizers and tanks. PG itself has NO TH. it just lets through nicotine's TH well. It also lets through flavor well so any flavor that has some kind of throat sensation like cinnamon, ginger, pepper, menthol, mint etc will be more easier felt through PG. Some compounding pharmacists (ones that can mix up sweet children's liquid medications for prescriptions may be able to get pure USP Propylene Glycol). It is also used as a medicine for hogs to prevent some hog disease so some people in the US can find it where farm supplies are sold.

VG is thick - too thick for some methods of vaping. It dulls everything PG lets through and makes thicker visible vapor. it is also use in cake decorating. The Wilton brand sells it. And some health food stores may list the ingredients so you will know if a glycerin is pure vegetable with no aromas or anything else added.

Nicotine - yes it is a poison, especially in high concentrations.

For cartomizers I use juices with 20% or less VG. (thin juice)

Than you all for your replays.
About the toxicity of PG: i have red few articles about it, and most of them are point to the liver damage that can occur over long exposure to the pure PG.
The most simple source is wiki and it also point to the some sort of toxicity:
Propylene glycol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The researches that i has read were testing long exposure to the PG and from what they reveal that in case of 100% PG it's highly harmful to the liver, more over a long exposure to it may be dangerous as well... so that's why i quite afraid to touch it...
Maybe i just over concern but exchanging lung cancer for dialyzes treatments...

urmas, if you really are concerned with PG, then stick with VG juice to feel more comfortable. I vape mostly VG. You can add some distilled water to make it thinner. Happy vaping! :)

Edit: VG is in most vitamin, fish oil pills.

Sure i can stick to it but then i can't get good TH even with Menthol.. :(

I would like to find some good TH ingredient that wont effect teh e-juce taste, and won't hold any health treat!

that is not a PG study it's a article collection which are collected to hold the writers opinion, there was no a glimpse of objectiveness in that study. tho it's written very well, the writer takes common opinions and old studies which represents his point of view.

The MSDS study was updated last year : Last Updated: 11/01/2010 12:00 PM
while the provided document is older and the referenced studies are much older then it...

I would like to think that PG is safe and good for vapor because it's would be realy great... but when i try to by it here most responses are toward it's toxicity.

About the doses.. well we are speaking here about 60-70% of the juice to use PG and some recopies i so here has even more.. so you in hail almost pure PG... lets say you vapor for a year or two... ad to it all rest of the products that you use with PG, almost any souse or cake, shampoo or hair conditioner...

Special Remarks on other Toxic Effects on Humans:
Acute Potential Health Effects: Skin: May cause mild skin irritation. It may be absorbed through the skin and cause systemic
effects similar to those of ingestion. Eyes: May cause mild eye irritation with some immediate, transitory stinging, lacrimation,
blepharospasm, and mild transient conjunctival hyperemia. There is no residual discomfort or injury once it is washed
away. Inhalation: May cause respiratory tract irritation. Ingestion: It may cause gastrointestinal tract irritation. It may affect
behavior/central nervous system(CNS depression, general anesthetic, convulsions, seizures, somnolence, stupor, muscle
contraction or spasticity, coma), brain (changes in surface EEG), metabolism, blood (intravascular hemolysis, white blood
cells - decreased neutrophil function), respiration (respiratory stimulation, chronic pulmonary edema, cyanosis), cardiovascular
system(hypotension, bradycardia, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest), endocrine system (hypoglycemia), urinary system (kidneys),
and liver. Chronic Potential Health Effects: Skin: Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause allergic contact dermatitis.
Ingestion: Prolonged or repeated ingestion may cause hyperglycemia and may affect behavior/CNS (symptoms similar to that
of acute ingestion). Inhalation: Prolonged or repeated inhalation may affect behavior/CNS (with symptoms similar to ingestion),
and spleen

Maybe losing some TH is the price for safety and peace of mind? :)

Here is a thread in the ECF Library with many PG toxicity references. See if they are more reassuring - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/72544-several-links-key-texts-involving-propylene-glycol-toxicity-all-one-place.html

Some US juice vendors do sell VG juice with good TH, but if you have to DIY, you may have to ask about flavors in the DIY sub-forum.

There are tons of links in that article to reputable sources.

But the choice is yours. If you think it's dangerous, don't vape- smoke. We're all adults capable of making our own decisions. I've made mine.
