So today I was vaping some of my favorite juice, cereal killa by 9 south vapes, when i noticed that I could hardly taste any flavor at all in the vapor. I am pretty familiar with this juice, as I have vaped through 3 bottles of it before with no problems. However, with this bottle, there was almost no flavor at all, and this bottle had been steeped longer than all of the other bottles of this juice I had. I did not change my build, mech, or atty, and i am using the exact same type of japanese cotton wick that I always use. At first I thought I might have vaper's fatigue or "vaper's tongue," but when I tried a few other juices on the same build and with the same wick, they tasted normal. So I was wondering if anyone has ever had consistency issues with e juice before or with 9 south vapes e juice, and is it actually possible to have a defective bottle of e juice where somehow not enough flavoring made it into the bottle. Thanks. Oh and the other thing, that might or might not be important, these bottles are glass bottles with glass droppers, and the cap is not a tight fitting cap. It is not childproof, and they do not even come sealed. Is it possible that somehow the flavor evaporated due to the cap that was not tight, so the last bottle I vaped, although it steeped the longest, was the least flavorful?

As I understand it, the older a bottle of liquid gets the more it loses some of it's more subtle flavors. For example, I bought a bottle of "lemon bar". When I smell the liquid in the bottle it has a definite scent of lemons, when I put a half a drop on my finger and tasted it, it tasted like lemons, but when i vape it, it only tastes like marshmallows. I contacted the manufacturer who said that I was wrong and that their "lemon bar" liquid is spot on and tastes exactly like the food product "lemon bars" but that perhaps I had an older bottle and that they noticed that as the liquid ages it loses some of the more subtle flavoring like lemon. They did offer to exchange it with a new bottle but since my bottle was dated with a "born on" date of only 3/14 I decided to just keep it as I'm too lazy to send it back and wait on a new bottle. In any event that told me that I want fresh e-liquids, but not "too" fresh to get the most flavor out of them.

Perhaps yours has aged too long?

Thanks for the response. I bought all 4 bottles at the same time from a local brick and mortar about 12 days ago. This flavor is a relatively new flavor from 9 south vapes, so I assume these were not bottles sitting on the shelf for months before shipment. The bottles do not have the date they were made listed on them, so i am not sure how old they are. I do know that I have not had them for long, and that the brick and mortar I got them from had also not had them for more than a week or so before I bought them. The last bottle only steeped for about a day longer than all the others, because it was the last one I got to vaping. I store all my liquids inside at around 72 degrees F. in a dark place. I am very confused because I have been vaping for almost a year now, and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I am particularly frustrated because this is one of my favorite juices, and I paid 20 USD for it. Maybe they accidentally left something out in making it.

If the juice isn't old, they most likely screwed up when making it by leaving the flavoring out, or not putting enough in. I think you should let them know ASAP! They might not know about this, and may have sent this "defective" batch out to several vendors / customers. I'm sure a "heads-up" would be appreciated, and hopefully appropriately acknowledged!

It could be vapers tongue still. Your brain might be desensitized to the flavors in that specific juice, since you said you vaped 3 bottles of it. Maybe ask someone else to try it and see if they can taste it?

Could it possibly be due to the far too quick re-uptake of neurotransmitters, causing his brain to lack in recognizing taste...?

Vape tongue can be caused by 'flavor fatigue' - the advice i always hear is to switch up flavors to both avoid vape tongue and cure it - I.E., vape a different juice for a while to clear your palate and re-set the tastebuds. (same principle as eating something salty, sour, or spicy, to cure vape tongue)

So yes, if you vaped a LOT of that one juice, but can taste others - it's not necessarily anything to do with the juice itself. Before I'd go there, my guess would be that your tastebuds are over-saturated and fatigued from that flavor. Just vape on other juices for a day or two and I bet you should be able to taste this one again.

hmm, suspecting inconsistent mixing when applying juice allowed vg to settle down to the bottom of the bottle, since VG is heavier, and you were vaping mostly VG.

Tis why they say to thoroughly mix/shake bottle before use. I usually leave a newly mixed juice in the flask for days, stirring it occasionally, to insure juice is completely emulsified with no fall out, before bottling them. But then when mixing an established adv recipe, will now mix 400 ml batches.

Ageing of juice and flavor development is not seeping. Seeping is the industries excuse for their lack of thorough mixing process before shipping of custom orders. Least that's my belief. The squirt, squirt, squirt, shake, shake, shake, vendors just don't mix, mix, mix, it very well, and leave it to the vaper.

i know what you mean. i think it's the specific juice. I also vape cereal killa from 9 south vapes and i found that juice is very sensitive. if i leave it out in the sun, the flavors change drastically. if i leave a bottle for a week or two, the flavor mutes. i found that keeping it in room temperature helps retain the flavor. just don't expose it to the sun or heat, and once you open it, you have to finish it within a week or two or the flavor dies off. i think it has something to do with the way they steep the juice. i read on their site that they pump oxygen into it or something. iono but hope this helps!

I don't mean to necropost, but I was curious what ever happened to the OP. Did you contact 9 south? Or did the flavor come back after a bit?
I'm having a similar issue with 9 south. I ordered 2 bottles about a month ago and loved them, recently ordered 3 more from the same vendor, and all 3 bottles have significantly less flavor than I'm used to. I thought maybe vapors fatigue but I still have a bit from the older bottle, and it taste the way I expect it, full of flavor. I contacted the vendor and they recommended steeping, changing my coil, etc. Idk what to do..
