maybe one of you can help me to figure something out here... i have two kanger t3 clearos... one with a 1.8 ohm coil and one with a 2.5.

both filled with light colored 50/50 usa made juice.
the 1.8 has methandy flavor and the color hasnt changed a bit...tank is almost empty.
the 2.5 has mello-fruitello flavor and the color has darkened significantly by the time i reached half a tank.

so both flavors are sweeter flavors. not sure that it matters much.

batteries are either my ego 650 or my ego variable voltage lcd battery ( not sure of mah on that one)

why do you think the juice is changing colors? is it picking up some burning from the wick?
youd think the juice in the tank with the lower resistance coil wouldve changed color, but it didnt.

im so confused

thanks
Geo

Welcome , but the sweeter the juices , the more likely to darken in the tanks . As you vape , you are heating up the coil ( that's what makes the vapor ) and when a liquid , with sugar in it , get heated , it will darken . Maybe the juice in the 1.8 , is less sweet , than the one in the 2.5 tank , so less likely to darken with the heat . But all of this is totally normal .

Also with the fruit one keep an eye on the tank itself. If it starts to cloud up the juice might have citrus in it which can cloud/melt crack tanks.

I was using a banana nut bread juice in a CE3 and didn't notice the cloudy until the 2nd tank full and then it was like being slammed. Permanent plastic burnt taste clouded tank and a crack in the tank. The juice DEFINITELY darkened up.

Same thing happened to me today but I thought it was the juice I had in my vivi nova was unsteeped (I was in a hurry ) and I thought it was the heat of the atomizer head kind of speed steeping it (the flavor really developed half way through the day)

Thanks for the answer Renzuli

Hi Geo

How much usage does the T3 with the darkening liquid have? Do you rinse out the T3 and base with hot water on occasion? I have a bunch of mini T3s and I have noticed the darkening liquid from time to time but it's pretty rare. Not sure I've ever seen the liquid go dark at 1/2 a tank but usually 1/4 tank or so if it does happen to me.

It's possible that something in the liquid is reacting to the heat. It could be a really dirty coil and the liquid is somehow flowing back from the coil into the tank. I replaced the coil in a T3 base last night because the air flow really reduced. Here's a pic of the coil that was replaced.

I've read this happening to others and most seem to think there's no issue in vaping the darkened liquid.

Thanks for the reply...only been at this game for 18 days, so I guess I'm still pretty new at all of this.

This is the first tank through this particular T3... I didn't clean or rinse anything, I just filled and started to vape.

I hafta admit...I'm not all that happy with the two T3s that I bought. :(

I started out with a ce-5 clearo and that worked awesome for the first two weeks but it was a pita to make sure the wicks were always wet...and they looked ugly in the tank. I went with the T3s because they are bottom coils and I thought they would be better because the wicks would always be wet. That and the replacement coils were $9 for 5 of them instead of $6 a pop. Plus, I have since found out through info here on ECF that they are super easy to replace the coils and wicks, so I'll definitely be doing that.

The first T3 I used leaked and gurgled like mad. I watched the video done by Dave (an ECF member but I don't recall his sign on here) and his suggestions helped a ton! I'm just disappointed that these take so much &*%$ work!

Thanks so much for your help...really appreciate it.

CE5 wicks/heads are not any harder to rebuild in fact it is nearly the same process. :)

As for what is best everyone has their own preference. I like the CE5s and the Kanger Protank. Protank is glass so no worries about whatever juice I put in there cracking it. Alot of people seem to love the ViVi novas but those are again top coils. A great many like carto tanks. I have never used the carto tank or nova so commenting on them is probably better left to someone who has.

Thanks for this... can you post a link on a tutorial on how to recoil and rewick a ce-5 coil? I've not been able to find one and that would give me one more clearo to use in rotation. I think I have the wife convinced to use one, so will be leaving a t3 and a 650 ego battery at home filled for her to use.

Thanks in advance

There have been a lot of quality control issues with T3's so depending on the time period your vendor ordered the stock you may have some duds.

Pretty much every T3 I've used benefits from being stored in a mouthpiece down position to prevent gurgling from slow wicking causing flooding while not in use.

If, like me, you forget to store it that way, put a tissue over the mouthpiece and "whip" the liquid into the tissue. Once you've gotten enough excess liquid out of the coil you can usually catch it up, especially if you have a VV device and you crank the voltage up until you clear the extra juice.

I second the juice darkening due to sugars caramelizing as you vape. This also changes the flavor of the juice as you vape, usually in a pleasing way.

I've also noticed that juices with alcohol in them will improve due to the alcohol evaporating from the heat as you vape through a tank.

Find the PBusardo You Tube video on the vivi nova. the actual process of rebuilding the CE5 is identical except the coil is on top and the wicks are longer. :)
