e-liquid and lifespan of coils

A while ago my favorite smoke shop in town stopped carrying any liquids with PG. They only do 100% VG now. It sucks, because I usually vape 1:1. When asked why, the explanation they gave is that PG irritates an lot of people (please don't go into this one. Been there, done that) and thinner liquids decrease the lifespan of coils.

Is that really true? Does 100% VG make coils last longer?

I haven't seen that VG kills sooner or makes them last longer. It's the other stuff. Flavorless PG or VG lasts and lasts.

I've always heard that the thicker the juice, the harder it is on the coil.
Always made sense to me.

Might that be because of less efficient wicking and therefore more dry-burning of the coil?

I've also heard PG takes the life out of the coils
Though I've heard the same about VG. Opinions seem to vary
So I don't really know about the coil life.
I have noticed however, that pure VG juice lasts longer, in the general sense. I think it may be cause it's thicker, vaporizes at a slower pace.

Except for the odd shape with the long legs, he is laughing at that, but you'll have that with Dachshunds.
