Greeting fellow vapors.

I am using a KR8 battery and cartridges. I had quit coughing up the analogs, and was fine until I began to use an e-liquid refill. Prior to that, I had purchased prefilled cartridges.

I only ordered one bottle to learn from, but it makes me cough from the lungs with phlegm. Does that say something about the e-liquid, about how I've used it, (I used the little rubber tips for refilling blanks I purchased for that purpose), or does it say something about my lungs?

I'll order another e-liquid because I like the economy of it, but from a different vendor and in a smaller quantity. But wanted to see if anyone had more input on that issue first.

Well how long have you been vaping. I know my body started to purge some impurities from my system when I stopped smoking cig's. What kind of e-liquid ratio are you using; %pg/%vg x mg nic? You might be using a higher nic level than you were getting in your prefilled cartos. A small percentage of the population have allergies to PG (like +/- 10%), but it could be a reason. HTH and good luck

I'd been vaping for a few months before ordering a liquid. I was a serious smoker and loved my nicotine--so I doubt that is the issue in itself.

I ordered V2 RED liquid premixed. 1.8% nicotine, PG.

I wasn't allergic to the same formula used in the prefilled cartridges?

I am a touch concerned with the e-liquids and the adequate care taken to ensure they are not contaminated. With all the small businesses started, and lack of facilities and pre-determined processes, I think there is a touch of danger in the casual.

I'm not a wuss, but have COPD at the stage of multiple hospitalizations so want to be careful. It was the change from not coughing to coughing again that gave me pause.

When you say "808 cartridges," do you mean cartomizers? (Cartridges are the damp foam things that slide on top of the atomizer, whereas cartomizers are one unit with a heating coil surrounded by polyfill.) If you are truly using cartridges, look into cartomizers, as they tend to do a better job of wicking your e-liquid.

On the other hand, if you meant cartomizer, then I'd take a look at the PG/VG ratio of your e-liquid, as DCB305 suggested. I personally find 100% VG liquids harder on my throat and lungs, while higher PG liquids tend to make me feel thirsty. That's just me, however--you'll have to figure out how your body reacts and just trust that. You might also consider trying out a different kind of juice in the same ratio--some people don't respond well to juices that are based on naturally extracted tobacco, while others don't to fruit or bakery tasting juices. There's a lot out there, so don't worry if you don't find your perfect vape right away--you're not alone. Cheers!

Okay, in that case here are some quick fixes while you experiment with PG/VG ratios:
-Take shorter draws
-Drink plenty of water while you're vaping
-Make sure to keep your cartomizer wet. (Top it off with a few drops when you suspect it's starting to dry out.)
-If you're using highly viscous e-liquid, don't keep using the same cartomizer after it starts tasting funny. Toss it and replace it.

Hope that helps!

i've heard of the quitters flu, and was super tired and kind of bummed out for a few weeks, but i'm starting my second month and things are getting better! hang in there!

When I started vaping, I found that the coughing up of stuff, (just my Humble opinion) was actually the lungs turning loose of the tar buildup from the years of smoking analogs. It eventually went away, and I found that I could breathe easier, and got better oxygen saturation. YMMV
There are some VG/PG mix ratios that offer a harder TH, which may induce a coughing fit, and there are a few different flavors which will hit a tad harder than others as well.
