Hey,

My mom has been an ultra light cigarettes smoker for years. She's now 61, and has developed a persistent rattle in her throat/chest that lasts all day long. This has been happening for the past month. She has the thought of quitting, but she procrastinates, and she's been procrastinating for 5-6 years now. When she developed this random rattle a year ago it concerned me. Now it's just been persistent and she won't get a chest X-Ray, she simply says she just needs to quit and to leave her alone.

So since I can't force her to do anything, I bought her a vuse. The vuse was way over the top and she choked badly. So I bought her the orbit mini x9 starter kit with 1.2% cherry juice. The vapor seems to be a bit strong and I cough inhaling it too much. But if I put the tip of the e cig to my lips, and take a tiny drag slowly inhaling to the back of my throat, I can blow it out and I won't cough. Is this how it's supposed to be smoked? She tried a bit of it, but said it kinda made her cough. I personally think it's way better than the vuse because I can even use the vuse, even the vapor in my mouth makes me cough without inhaling, lol.

Also, if there is 0% nicotine, will this still give the strong sense and make me start coughing if I try inhaling it? I heard the more the nicotine in the e-liquid, the stronger the vapor/throat hit which leads to coughing?

I guess I need an e liquid with a lot less throat hit to be able to inhale it into the lungs. My mom smokes ultra lights, and so the smoke feels thin or not strong, but its inhaled easily without coughing. Can I get an e liquid that is very weak like ultra lights?

This 1.2% is strong and burns/irritates the throat just trying to inhale it like a cigarette.

The higher the PG content in the eliquid along with high nicotine will make it feel much more harsh, though 1.2% isn't very high. Personally I like that, but things always feel much more harsh when you first try it. Yes, many places offer zero nic but that is probably not necessary and could be counterproductive. If you choose a higher VG juice it will make it feel much smoother. Learning how to inhale is something that comes in time, but generally slower and longer pulls, or just do what feels right to you. I'm not going to tell you whether you should leave her alone or not, that all on you, but you can try a much better juice with good device if you so choose. I really want to encourage you to look at other options other than commercial ecigs, Those other options are mainly what youll find here.

Its probably a high PG juice. And for an ultra light smoker, Id say 1.2% would be a decent nic dosage, but results vary widely. Try out different nic levels from lower around 6mg or .6% to around 1.2%.

Inhaling is a slight learning curve. Slow drag for 5 or so seconds into the mouth then into the lungs. . I'm at 1.8% 2 months out of being a pack a day newport smoker. Try 50/50 pg/vg ratio. I personally don't think 1.2% is too high initially. I started out at 2.4%. Look into local shops that will let you try out juice before buying it. Finding a flavor you like makes a big difference. I personally haven't come across any fruits I like and if it came down to a fruit being my only option I can guarantee I wouldn't have quit smoking.

You've piqued my curiosity... why?

I started off on 12 and it made me feel nauseous and just all around weird. Then I vaped 6 and it was fine, then I moved on to dripping and 6 killed my throat. So I switched to 3 and im good. I don't see how people vape 18 or 24. That's crazy to me.

Ahh, that makes sense then. On the flip side from that, I'm always baffled when people say the hit off really low nic is too harsh... I use 24mg red hot cinnamon in my dripper-- delicious! :vapor: Just shows how very, very different everyone's needs are with vaping. Kinda cool, IMHO.
