Yes, I agree that this is where the TWIST will fit in well- with a new person trying to find good flavors. They ought to be able to adjust easily the voltage to find the flavor's best heat level.
I love my Volt XL2s. I find them totally affordable and carts are cheap! I prefer the 808d setup myself. I say whatever works! My volt looks just like an ego, but all I need is a cart. Oh I have tanks too but tha'st for my favorite juices.
Depends on what you usually use. If you usually use a fixed voltage PV, it doesn't make much sense to test juice with a variable voltage when you're sitting home. A juice that tastes good with a 3ohm atomizer at 4.8 volts, might not taste so good with your 3.4V ego and a 2ohm cartomizer.
A battery just supplies power. Match what you can achieve with the PV you use the most. If you use a 3.7V unregulated PV most of the time, then get a 3.7V unregulated PV to test juice.
Don't get a Twist to test juices unless you're going to be using a variable voltage PV when you're not at home. That makes no sense unless you only set it at 3.7 or 3.4 volts, which also makes no sense. It's like testing winter jackets on a beach in Florida in July.
And test with an atomizer that's the same resistance as the cartomizers or clearomizers you use on the PV you use most often.

i use ego at home and around yard or at neighbors, when i acctually go out...work, shopping etc, i take my 510's with pcc 
I use a 510 but find quality to be a problem sometimes. The last one didn't put out very well from the start and died one week after I purchased it. Trying to find a dependable dealer with consistantly good quality 510's along with good quality menthol burst or cool mint. Does anyone know anyone that carries menthol strength between 16 mg and 24mg. I am trying to take it down a notch but the jump from 24 to 16 is to big of a jump. I need 20 mg or even 18 would be easier for me.
LMAO, didn't know they turned into religions now. Love it! I guess I am a twister and would recommend the OP a Twist, or two, for its price and versatility. Got one 900 and just ordered another on Friday. Just can't beat the $24 price from DiscountVapers
I could buy 6 of these for the price of one provari. I know, the provari is better, but the Twist gives my clearos all I need...how much more goodies does the Provari provide? Twist to my sweet spot and vape away happy
Not to mention the Twist can handle eGo and 510 connections natively...this covers all my clearos vaping nirvana for me
