E-Liquids: I'm picky, is there anything besides sweets?

I just ordered a Joye 510. It should be here pretty soon. I ordered the $35 starter kit that comes with Marlboro flavor cartridges (cignot.com). I also purchased some empty carts and plan on getting some e-liquid.

Here's my problem: I've looked at many websites, and the majority of flavors are sweets. I don't eat sweets at all. I just don't enjoy sugar like the rest of the world. In fact, I'm the exact opposite: I love butter and breads and meat and cheese. If they made a Burger King croissanwich, I'd be all over that. lol.

I've seen a French Toast flavor, but I am not sure I'd like to taste French Toast all day.

Also, I never smoked for "the flavor" of cigarettes.

I am allergic to mint/menthol (it makes my throat close off, eyes burn and gag, cough, joke; its hell finding a toothpaste, let me tell you). I don't like the flavor anyway.

I briefly had a Red Dragon PV (sent it back the next day, which is the day of this posting) and I did appreciate the vanilla flavor (I sent it back due to lack of throat hit and difficulty getting it to activate).

I've read on these forums (I've only de-lurked recently) that one might want to consider not smoking a "cigarette tasting" flavor and branch off. Well, what does one do when they don't like coffee (I have never liked it and don't even enjoy cappucinos, lattes, etc.), pastries, alcohol or sweets? See, I told you I was picky.

Does anybody out there have any ideas? If not, I'll think I'll just stick with vanilla. Thanks.

I've heard great things about clove...but have'nt tried it myself...just a thought. The thing is, most of the flavors are not really sweet IMO.

Thanks for all the quick replies. You guys mention clove...I've never had a clove cigarette, so I have no idea what one is supposed to taste like.

How do you mean that most flavors are not sweet...do they taste fairly weak in the vapor? Sorry, kind of new to this.

Also, I notice the vapor does leave an aroma. I enjoyed that I kind of smelled like vanilla. Is this the same with all vapes? I know RD and others claim "no odor". Well, I don't care if there's a smell as long as it is a pleasant smell.

Can anyone describe the flavors, such as cinnamon (does it really taste like cinnamon?) or the tea? I know it is hard to describe a taste, but some of these flavors I've heard of, like Flue Cured or 555, etc, I have no idea what kind of taste they might be. I wish suppliers would give a little description of the flavor (aside from the obvious ones like strawberry).

You could also consider doing a bit of DIYing and flavour your own liquids if you don't mind ordering flavours from Italy: Flavourart Express shop

They have not only sweet flavours, but savoury and alcoholic flavours. Just make sure that you order water soluble flavours!

(If you don't feel comfortable mixing your own, FlavourArt will also custom make your e-liquid for you using either VG or PG-based e-liquid with your chosen flavour and nicotine strength.... just have a browse at "the Vape Heaven" on the menu on their website)

I have heard on here where somebody is offering roast beef! Maybe even fried chicken...makes me hungry just thinking of it.
That was Decadent Vapers, (but if I remember rightly it was Roast Chicken) but he's been closed for a while now as he's sorting out the TW DV range.

I think he intends to re-open as soon as he can though.

Actually, I've heard of the roast beef but cannot find it. However, one website (can't remember the name, it was Walrus something or other stuff) has Kung Pao Chicken.

Angela - Thank you. I'm investigating their savory flavors right now. They have bread crust and cheeses! Yay. That site has all sorts of 'meats' and 'vegetables'. I can't believe I didn't find this before. However, "prawn". Yuck. :)

I will probably go with a sample pack first of whatever I get so I can try out flavors before spending money on something I won't like. I wish you could custom pick which flavors in the sample packs. (I know, I want everything :) ) I'm tempted by eliquidplanet's Specialty Sample Pack A, but JC's sample pack offers 10 flavors and eliquidplanet only gives 5 for the same price. Decisions, decisions.

here's what i found...
tastyvapor (www dot tastyvapor dot us - sorry i don't have enough posts to put url links yet so this is my last resort) is doin an awesome buy 2 get 1 free sale (until tomorrow, the info is on the front page) and you can mix and match many flavors and you can even tell him that you don't like sweet stuff and he can make some great suggestions. He also adds things to make it sweeter, if you tell him you don't like sweets, i'm sure he'll cut it and make it less sweet. anyways, he has nutty flavors like pecans, almonds, pistachio etc. if that's still too sweet...

nhaler.com - has random flavors such as...Elecampane Root and Flower
Mulletein leaf
Osha Root
Yerba Mansa(whole Plant)
Yerba Santa Leaf
Dandelion Leaf
Licorice root
Lobieala Root
A water extraction tincture of Cordyceps
Reishi Mushroom Alcohol Extraction

haven't tried any of these but they really don't sound sweet...

good luck on your juice search!

Stay away from VG based liquid as it is definately a lot sweeter than the PG stuff.

The last batch of JC I got was much sweeter than it used to be .

Keef,

That's normally true on VG but somehow Decadent Vapours has been able to get rid of the sweetness or mask it. My first order from them was all VG and not sweet - even the Black Currant. The Roast beef is definitely not sweet. Habana Reserve more smoky, Absinthe a touch of sweetness but the anise/absinthe dominates.

And I liked the VG version better than the same flavors in PG at TW but then I had to dilute the TW's 36mg....

I want you to remember, the sample pack I got from Johnson Creek had a real sugary peach in it as well as a 'dark cherry' and menthol.

I got the sample pack from JC and it just isn't for me. I know there are lots of fans of this juice so can someone tell me what the underlying taste is to every flavor. Every one of them tastes the same with a little hint of the named flavor. I thought I would get a taste for it but can't get past that taste. What is it?

As for non sweet flavs, I stick to mostly RMV's Marlboro( USA), Blended, ry1, 555, tried dark tab, ry4. though I can not say any of these is like analog tobacco, it fits the bill so far.

( I vaped the cinnamon but for some reason that flav caused little canker thingies on my tongue :-x )
You'll find some you like and some you don't, part of the process with pv's
Hope you find the juice that's right for you!

This has all been so helpful. I was fearful at first of posting because I might be posting in the wrong spot or something and I am used to being torn a new one for being a newbie and making a newbie mistakes on other, nonrelated to vapeing boards, so I'm glad I asked.

Prob will stay away from JC if it is very sweet as a few have said. I don't know why, but I have ZILCH sweet tooth.

If you like tobacco flavor with no underlying sweetness, try Cuban Cigar from Wet Your Stick. Tastes the closest to an analog IMHO with no sweetness at all. Doesn't taste like a cigar either. Tastes like a cigarette or very close to one. Good stuff.

I know other vendors have Cuban but I haven't tried theirs so can't really comment on those.

IMHO, you have to try different flavors and not depend on what others say. From the flavors that I have tasted, I have found that some of them are just nasty even though they are flavors that you would normally love to eat. IMO many of them dint really taste like what they are called. My advice would be to try some samplers from somewhere like NHaler or another supplier that sells sample size bottles. Try many of them as see which ones taste best for you. What is great for someone, may be repulsive to you and visa versa.
