EA mod b (Bottom button)

I'm having a really annoying issue with this mod. It has been my all time favorite mod that I have purchased. I bought it at a local dealer's shop for $180.00. The price I paid for it I didnt care for but I loved it, until now. About 3 months ago It was working perfectly, fired every time no matter what. but now for some reason it wont. I have to press on the bottom button a little harder then usual and i have to press it like on the outer edge of the button. And sometimes when I can hear it firing, its not firing all the way.
Everything I have read about it, which isn't alot, says nothing. I know that if you get a "hot button" it may compress the spring in the button and that will cause a short or what ever. But i have no idea if this button is spring or magnet. WHy dont i take it apart and look? Well because i cannot figure out how to. And it is pressed fit and there is absolutley no info of any of this stuff i.e. ANYONE with the same issue, disassembly of the button. And now the electricangel . fi site is closed down. Before they were asking for ALOT of money for a new button.
Can anyone shed some light on this PLEASE

I saw your post earlier DrayJay, but, although I also own that particular mod, I have no knowledge to offer. But, it took me a while to find it again, so I thought I'd go ahead and post to bump it up from the back pages; I mentioned it to someone in the iTaste vv3 thread who also owns this mod, and he might know a bit more; he's been quite a fount of knowledge to me about a wide range of vaping issues, so I figured bumping it up might make it easier for him, or anyone else who owns this mod, to find it.

Frankly I'd kinda like to know this myself, in case I ever have any issues with the button on my Fallen Angel.

Sorry I can't help, but at least bumping it might get it more attention...

It might just be that the button is a little loose.

Take off the base, and press a finger tip tightly against the button, then turn the outside button clockwise to see if you can tighten it up. Counter-clockwise will take it off. You then would also need to unscrew the locking ring, and the hex nut on the inside. I haven't had a reason to tear mine down, but the button does sometimes get a tad loose - and that makes a flakey connection.

It might also be just that the hex nut is loose.

Don't sand or burnish the contacts, as they are (said to be) gold plated. Just clean now and then with isopropyl alcohol and swabs. or on a tissue to clean the post connection.

This actually sounds like something that would benefit my own... I've noticed that sometimes it kinda "rocks" side to side as I'm pressing it, and it even does that a little, like a little wobble, when I'm not pressing it. Think it's just loose? I had wondered how I might gio about tightening it, so thanks!!!

Worth a check, Andria. It's always a bit of a challenge getting a nut tight against the inside curve of a tube, and if it's loose, it would certainly allow the whole assembly to rock a bit.

Yeah I've noticed that sometimes, for no reason I've been able to discern, it just doesn't fire -- it's not often, but now and then, and it occurred to me that this might be why, although so far I've dealt with it by just making sure the tubes are fully tightened; sometimes they can get a little loose just from changing the battery. But just so I understand this completely...

Take off the base, and press a finger tip tightly against the button, then turn the outside button clockwise to see if you can tighten it up. Counter-clockwise will take it off. You then would also need to unscrew the locking ring, and the hex nut on the inside.

When I take off the base and turn the outside button... is the locking ring tightened or loosened? And I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by "outside button"... Not a mechanical genius here, by a long shot...

Thx!!

The actual "firing pin" is like a tiny barbell. The button you push is threaded into the shaft of the inner button, which makes contact with the post on the bottom cap. (And that is inside the rest of the switch assembly, which holds the spring and the lock ring.) Holding one and turning the other clockwise will tighten it up. It will have to be unlocked to do that easily, and should have no effect on the lock ring at all.

Now all this sounds great. But I'm just having a hard time doing any of the things you are suggesting. When I unscrew the bottom button assembly from the batter tube I can't seem to get any further. I am dealing with a electric angel EA Mod B. Incase we weren't clear. Anyway. I do not see a hex not our anything of the sort. All I can do is turn the lock ring clockwise (to unlock the button) and counter clockwise (to lock the button) once unlocked I cannot for the life of me turn the button either direction. I don't know if it is because I can't get a grip or what. If you (or anyone) could send pictures, or just more details explaining this, it would be very much appreciated
Thank you

Ah, guess that part got missed...

The bottom button version seems to be "sealed", at least per this vid: EA Mod new button - YouTube which comes from the makers site...

That said, since someone put it together, there must be some way to take it apart, but I haven't a clue, and don't have one to inspect...

AHA! I see now why none of this makes a bit of sense to you; yours has a bottom rather than side button! The stuff DavidOck was saying is applicable to the side-button style, the original EA Mod or the EA Mod Clone (Fallen Angel).

Well, it got it more attention, but so far I don't think it's helped you at all. :(

I also tried to check out the Electric Angel website, but they have something misconfigured, so the site is offline. What you might be able to do is find a WHOIS search (most domain registrars have them) and look up their domain name in it, and try to find an email address -- that might not get you to anyone who knows the technicals of this mod, but it might get you to someone who has an email address for someone who knows the technicals of the mod.

Andria

PS: I tried this technique, but no email address turned up; I did turn up a couple of phone numbers -- +358 407 481815 is shown as their "Contact" phone number, or +358 206 90801 for "Technical Contact" -- which might only mean the technicals of the website. Bear in mind, they may not speak English, being a Finnish company.
