Well ladies.. looks like I'm going to be joining the Janty Stick club afterall. I got to looking at reviews and such and the product looks impressive. I showed them to my son who is currently living with me, and he wanted one for himself. I ended up ordering two of them. I figure I can keep using my current model until the stick arrives. The hard part for me is getting past the fact that it doesn't look much like a cigarette so we'll see. At home it won't matter much to me what it looks like, as long as it works...Other than that it looks like a sturdy little device...wish me luck. :D

Already I can see this new hobby/habit of mine is going to be costly. :p

Cori - you already ordered the stick? Wish I would have seen your thread earlier.

If you're having problems with too much of a throat hit on the Nebula, you're going to be in the same boat with the stick. That's what it's for! All the raves and reviews are because it gives us the throat hit most of us crave because it's powered with a higher voltage that heats up the atty to a hotter temp - thus warmer vapor and a throat hit that kicks like a mule.

Any e-cig that has a manual switch will give a throat hit that packs a punch. The amount of nicotine in your liquid will also provide that throat hit too, but not like a manual switch e-cig.

When you ordered your Nebula, what nicotine strength did you order? As you go up in nicotine strength, you'll get more of a throat hit.

When I got my first manual switch e-cig, I had to cut my nicotine strength from High (18 mg) to Medium (12 mg) so I wouldn't get a throat hit that knocked my socks off. LOL! I crave that throat hit to feel satisfied, but I also wanted to keep my socks on!!

My first e-cig was a 901 (mini). My son still uses his 901, is happy with it, and doesn't want to use any other e-cig. He doesn't crave that throat hit like me. He was vaping 18 mg Camel and is currently trying 12 mg Camel.

The 901 for me was inconsistent - sometimes a throat hit but more often not. I tried the 36 mg strength to see if I could get a consistent throat hit. Yeah, I got the throat hit alright, but I also got sick and had headaches.

So my second e-cig was an 801 (pen-style). aarrgghh - same story - inconsistent throat hit.

My third e-cig was a 401 (super mini). Same story, but a little better.

My fourth e-cig was the Kissbox (801 with a manual switch) from jantyusa.com. Now that's what I'm talking about! Plumes of vapor and a throat hit that sent shivers down my spine! Ah-La-La!

My fifth e-cig was the Dura-C (510 with a manual switch) from jantyusa.com. Is this better than sex or what??? (just kidding)

My sixth e-cig was the screwdriver (SD) from trog. Now this definitely is better than sex hahaha!

So, my main vapes are now with the SD and the Dura-C. The Kissbox I use when I want a lighter, smoother draw. I also use it when I'm trying new flavors or when I just want to drip.

My advice is to hop over to eastmall.net and/or ruyandirect.com. Buy one of their 901, 801, and 401 starter kits and give them a go. David at eastmall.net also has the 510 if you want to see what a manual switch e-cig can do. The prices are great and you can try these different types and find the one that's right for you without investing a huge amount of money. Their liquid is also good and comes in lots of flavors. I've placed several orders with David at eastmall.net and with Wayne at ruyandirect.com and they are great to work with. You'll have your order within 7 - 10 days!

Remember: the higher the nicotine strength, the more the throat hit. E-cigs with manual switches, the more the throat hit.

Hang in there, you'll find what's right for you. Good luck!

Oh no's.. Yes I've already preordered the stick. I wasn't aware of the throat hit. Hmm, now I'm worried. I'm not sure I can even cancel this order now?

Do you think I can cancel a preorder from Janty and get reimbursed, or will I have to wait until it gets here then return it unopened? Thanks so much for your help and all the info.

If you can't cancel, and I'm not saying you should, another option is for your son. If he needs a throat hit, he'll love the stick. And if you go to a very low strength nicotine, the stick might work ok for you. But it's made to give plumes of vapor and a very good quality throat hit, even with low nic.

That burnt hit you're getting is that the liquid in your cart is too low and you're pretty much sucking dry vapor put off by the atty. Yeah, that really is nasty! You need to top off your cart more frequently or change your cart more frequently.

What nicotine strength did you order with the Nebula? The harshness may be the nicotine strength or it may be a flavor that just doesn't suit you. I can't stand any of the pre-filled carts that come with these e-cigs. I have them all put aside. I'm a menthol fan and like a little hilton added to the menthol at times, but primarily menthol.

Yes my son loves a throat hit..we both smoked menthol cigarettes. I'm currently vaping some 16mg menthol cartridges. My son loves the 24mg juice. I think I have the throat hit thing squared away now, no more coughing..either that or chalk it up to learning how to vape better? Either way I'm ok with it as long as that cartridge doesn't start burning. yuck :p

My son would love to have more throat hit.. I may just wait and test his and see how I like it..use something lower nic too.

Side note: I edited my last message because I don't want to post anything negative about my ecig that someone with more experience might have no problem with. Sorry :(

It's ok Cori. My first 801 (the Rio) was from Ben at vapornine.com and I'm still using those attys with my Kissbox. I didn't see your post about the problems you're having with the Nebula as negative and I know Ben would understand your concerns. You have a right to be concerned and also to express your concerns. We all have a learning curve and everyone understands that.

Well thats the thing Mamu.. Ben is such a nice guy to do business with. I don't want my noob experience to reflect on him in any way. The service he provides is top notch. This whole ecig thing sure is confusing. I've watched so many reviews, seen so many conflicting comments about this brand vs that brand its hard to know where to start.

All I really do know is that I love ecigs and its keeping me off the cigarettes. My brother is waiting for me to give him the thumbs up on this vaping thing before he dives in. I don't want to give him a thumbs up until I find a product that I'm going to be happy with and feel good about recommending. Hard to believe its been almost 2 weeks for me already. How long will it be before I lose noob status? lol :p

I hear you there!

I was smoking up to 2, sometimes 3, ppd this last year. I've been smoking since I was 16 (oh gawd - was I ever that age) and that was many many many years ago!

I tried ALL the quit smoking methods. Even accupuncture (and they say it doesn't hurt - who perpetuated that myth?) And then Chantix - omg - I thought I was going to die I got so sick (I think that pill was marketed to punish us for being smokers!) Gum, patches, commit, Zyban. I went the whole route and nothing worked. My mom died of emphysema at age 69 and was a smoker for most of her life. Mom was only 69 and I miss her so much!!!

My son is 28-years-old and has disabling schizophrenia and was chain smoking to keep his anxiety at bay.

So I got into e-cigs for the both of us and that was 2-1/2 months ago. Both of us have been smoke-free from the start!!! My husband fully supports the money I spend for my son and I and wants it to work as much as we do. So I am blessed there.

I can understand your need to make it work!!! My smoker's cough has simply disappeared. I'm no longer short-of-breath. In fact, I just realized this the other day when I was singing and dancing with my 3-year-old granddaughter. I didn't have to sit down and catch my breath!! My son's color is now pink and not dusky gray and he no longer hacks and coughs.

So, if you don't want to do the China route with David at eastmall.net or Wayne at ruyandirect.com right now, may I suggest you hop over to Phil's site at
e-Smokey Treats - Electronic Cigarette's, The healthy alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette's and order one of those hot pink 901 mini's. That was my first e-cig. My son got a black 901 from Phil and it's still going strong. It's the only one he'll use and that's been 2-1/2 months now. So is mine, but I think I'm going to frame it. Aah yes - and looky here - this is the one that started it all!

He's a bit on the pricey side for a 901, but you get some extra goodies with his kits like 2 attys (that's most unusual, most 901 kits you only get 1 atty) and he's got a good warranty and you'll most likely have it by the middle of next week. My order only took 3 days. His menthol liquid is also great, so if you order be sure to get some. I never regretted purchasing from him - he'll treat you right and is well respected on this forum. If you browse through the New Members forum, you'll see he's recommended the most for newbs. uh.. could that be why my first e-cig was from him? <g>

Like Tim Gunn says - Make it work!

Edit: I just re-read what I wrote. I hope I don't come across as pushy (who me?), but I know how very happy I am that it's working and I would like to see anyone who gives it a try to be successful, too.

Do you think a 901 would be a better starter model, and does it put out a lot of vapor? I want more vapor..less throat hit.

Absolutely - the 901 is the most recommended model for new e-smokers. My first e-cig was from Phil at e-smokeytreats.com and was a 901.

I think that's why I was surprised that you bought a Nebula for your first e-cig. And then the Janty Stick for your second e-cig. LOL - talk about a kick-start!

Now, can I take back my other posts? Geez - I need to go to bed!

LOL..thats me, I jump in with both feet and hope I can swim. :p I'll go have a look at e-smokeytreats and see what he's got. As for being surprised about my Nebula and Janty Stick..what can I say, I read and read, then read some more and its all kind of a blur now how I came to these conclusions.

I was thinking a good way to kick start my brother might be to give him that Janty Stick and tell him to brace himself. Can't beat sisterly love can you?

I wanted to comment too, that my son played a big role in my selecting the Stick.. he's a Industrial Designer and he thought the design was pretty awesome.

WAIT, Cori! 8-o

Please let me get my head together so I can put in my tuppence. As it's a weekend I hope you don't need to cancel today.

The thing is, quite a few UK users got their Stick this morning, including me. (My first impression is that I'm not going to be able to use it, the shape just doesn't suit me.) You are quite at liberty to join the UK Users subforum and gather "reviews" there from the new users.

My experience with a penstyle atomiser (the generic form of the one used with the Stick) is that it produces more vape than the 901 Mini but far, far less hit - almost none. And the draw is too easy, too airy. I see already that a new Stick user has said "it's like breathing". I think that the amount of hit you get can be controlled by how long you drag whilst holding down the button.

I agree with Mamu that the 901 is popular with new users and it's what I recommend - but always with the caveat that it's a temperamental and unreliable little bugga, much as I love it, and you will need 2-3 starter kits in my opinion (but I see you have a great supplier who includes 2 atomisers with each kit - but you need extra chargers, IMO - and don't get a USB passthru unless you find someone who knows someone who sells a really good one: my two failed miserably). But it has kept me away from tobacco for 6 months (anniversary today, yay!) after 50 years of smoking 8-o ending up chain-rolling and -smoking and becoming more and more ill.

The 901 Mini gives much more hit than the generic 801/Classic/penstyle, in my experience. If you want a very mild vape that's the one I would go with, but make sure you get it from a good supplier. That model does not have a manual switch.

It's just food for thought, hoping you've got time for it before you need to cancel the Stick.

.........................

OK, Cori, my first vape with my new Stick. I used one of my own cartridges to save disturbing the new stuff. I hate it. No hit whatsoever, and no "pull". You might love it.

That's just two or three puffs-worth of review. Maybe I should give it a chance but as things are...

scylla :(:(:(:(:(

Thanks so much Scylla... your input on all this is greatly appreciated. My order isn't cancelled yet. I'd love to read more on this model so I'll try to find the subforum and see what everyone thinks. If it doesn't hit that well it sounds like something that I might like actually. Maybe it needs to get broken in first? At any rate I'm going look for that subforum so I can read more.

Anyway, there's some hit but it's not rough or strong. But of course I can't compare it with what you have.

Some hit? With the stick? Oh man - if that's true for most of the users - oh geez - there's going to be a rant on that - will look into that thread.

Scylla is right about the 801 being a smoother, lighter draw. I didn't get a hit from either the 901 or 801 consistently, so that was my comparison.

Come to think of it, I did mention in a previous thread I do use my Kissbox (801 with a manual switch), when I want a smoother, lighter draw or when I want to really taste the flavor I'm vaping. I use it to mostly drip.

Dripping is where you drip some drops of liquid on the atomizer and use just a mouthpiece (without a cartridge) to vape. Dipping, which some of the 401 users do, is where you dip the tip of the atomizer in the liquid. This is possible for the 401 because the bridge of the atty is exposed.

Maybe I went overboard in my posts, didn't mean to, sorry.

Some hit?

You will see that I almost fell to bits when I first tried my Stick, it was like taking in "empty air". Someone said the atomiser might need bedding in and I eventually picked it up again - it's getting better, this is early days. It's also not my favourite mouthpiece, so thin. But there's an upside to the softer draw - I won't be puckering my lips as much as with the 901, making those dreadful lines :D

Maybe I went overboard in my posts, didn't mean to, sorry.
(((Mamu))) I do hope I didn't sound in any way reproachful, I didn't mean to (to quote you, lol), sorry. But I didn't want Cori to do anything hasty in view of my experience up to that point. I still think the (my) Stick has much less hit than a 901 on its best form.

These damn things were sent to save... and torment us

PS - Here's a short 'n sweet review from one of today's recipients:

LOL! I thought that when I first got my SD. I had about the same experience you're having with the stick. So I'm getting frustrated and thinking where's that %$#* throat hit I paid mega bucks for!

What happened was that trog had sent 2 batteries that were barely alive, duds as he says. They won't hold a charge and they quickly went totally dead. New batts solved that problem, so now I'm in seventh heaven with it.

I wonder if your batts are like that? Just a thought.

Heavens no, I wasn't referring to you or your post when I mentioned going overboard. I was just thinking I had posted too much info in my previous posts, or gave impressions that wasn't meant, that might have overwhelmed someone new to this! So I was thinking I had probably gone overboard in my enthusiasm in wanting Cori to be successful lol!

I was browsing this forum for the posts on the UK users that had got their sticks and couldn't find it. I thought you meant this forum, but see it was a different site. Or is it this forum and I've missed it? Thanks for the link.

Good luck with the stick and keep us posted on it. I was considering buying it "for my collection", but I have everything I need. I have to keep remembering that I have everything I need...I have everything I need...aarrgh!...don't press that buy button hahaha!

You know what guys... I'm just going to give it a try. If it turns out not for me I'll send it back. I'm going to test my son's ecig out and not even open the second one until I know if I'm going to like it or not. I appreciate all the help you all have been giving me. Haha we should get some kind of pool going.. "will she cough her guts up or not".. kidding, I'm tough, I can take it. Maybe I can get my son to video me..turning green. 8-o

Mamu..Trust me, you didn't " over share" nor overwhelm.. I loved your post, so loaded with information on comparing e-cigs from first hand knowledge... You should of seen my eyes, all wide > she's my heeeero! lmao

And I'm well on my way to joining the "collectors" table.. I feel pressured to find my nirvana and invest just in case it's all taken away...I think I have one of everything headed my way lol

Scyllabub, I hope you end up liking your Jstick
