i always put it in my checked luggage, not my carry on, or my person. I've been to many places, and never had any issues with it. Where are you travelling to? Each country has its own laws.
NY to San Juan, PR. I guess it should be ok, but I read that it should not be in checked luggage since it was the cause of a fire on a plane a while back. I will carry it on.

Haven't heard that before...but there are reasons for each. I just went to Israel a few months back, and HAD to have it in my checked luggage. If it were in my carry on, they would've seized it since Israel has laws about selling ecig stuff, although, not possessing it...its a very weird law, but it allows the customs to do as they please.
You should be fine going to PR though.
Have a great trip though, just remember the 3oz liquid law!

If you're flying within the US, simply follow TSA rules for liquids and batteries.

Liquids

Batteries

As to the mods and atomizers themselves, I'd suggest flying with them empty or near-empty. The pressure changes of flight will cause them to at least leak a little. The last time I flew I had my APVs in a baggie with a paper towel and nobody even blinked an eye.

I haven't flown internationally in years, so I can't help you if you're traveling outside the US.

Safe trip!

You are not supposed to put lithium batteries in checked luggage...only in carry on.

I normally travel with ego style batts. 4-5 in my carry on. a couple of 30 mil bottles of liquid in the plastic baggy thing in carry on. Plus my toppers and charger. I only fill one topper/clearo and put it in clear baggy as well. Extra charger and liquid in checked luggage (also in plastic bag). Also, don't fill bottles...maybe 75% full...because of pressure changes. I have not had any troubles with this.

I put all my vape gear in carry on, batteries esp. per TSA rules.

As for air pressure, etc. I have found that buying a few disposables for trips solves a lot of problems for me. Easy to use, then toss when you don't need anymore. I also keep them for going to funerals, weddings, etc. because they are discreet and small.

I fly internationally a lot. As others have said liquids in zip locks, batteries in proper cases, and labels on your juices. Do this and you should have no problems :)

Don't try to BS a TSA agent....Most of them know what it is. 20+ flights to and from the Middle East and never had a problem except once...They made me take my mech mod apart and put it back together and take a drag. The Saudi agent was more curious than anything :)

Here's the current gospel :

IATA’s Addendum II to the 56th Ed. DGR - Lion Technology - Lion Technology

Goes basically for anything containing lithium batteries. Cabin crew is trained and got equipment to deal with a thermal runaway.

Holds below the floor ( where the baggage is stashed) do have fire extinguishers and smoke detectors. The catch is that thermal runaways are largely self sustaining and thus extremely hard to put out.

With liquids, it's the other way round. Except for them few milliliters allowed in your see-through doggie bag as hand-carry, larger quantities should go in checked baggage.

That's it as regards to carriage TO destination. Customs AT destination is another kettle of fish. Some countries banned vaping completly, so customs might seize your goodies when found.

Keep your favourite and most expensive mods at home. Travel with stuff where it won't hurt you if it gets bagged...

I took my vape stuff to Mexico City last year, was worried because it's banned in Mexico. No one noticed anything, arriving or departing. If you get a red light and a full inspection, I can't guarantee anything, but they x-ray everything even if you get a green light. It seems Mexico is more worried about imports, so your personal stuff should be okay.

I also went to Hong Kong and Shenzen, no one took notice at all there. At the Hong Kong airport, I hardly remember going through immigration and customs. I took the train from there and walked across the border at the bridge in Shenzen, the passport/visa check was a bigger PITA than customs, at least in my case.

I do a lot more domestic travel in the US, and sometimes I get the TSA stopping my baggie with my vape stuff (always carry it with me) on the x-ray belt, but they normally just glance at it, recognize it, and put it back down. I've been briefly questioned about it once, got a nod and that was it.
