Just to make things more clear, I did not put ammonia in my atomizer. I place my copper top in a sealed container attached to kanthal wire. The ammonia was soaked in a paper towel beneath the copper top, but it's possible it came into contact by mistake.

Ammonia evaporates into the surrounding air - otherwise it will not work. Yes it came into contact.
Never Modify the finish on an Atomizer if you are unsure what you are doing.

Have you bothered vaping on another Topper?
Any issues?

That's good! How about being a sport and editing that thread title. Something like "don't try to patina copper atomizers". That would look better.
