The primary reason that posts are locked after a period of time is to maintain the integrity of posts and threads. This prevents individuals from going through and editing/deleting post weeks or months down the road. It is extremely unlikely this will change anytime soon.
Yeah I understand it, It has never been an issue for me...until now :)

I'm probably missing something, because to me that doesn't make any sense. Couldn't the integrity of a post be improved by editing it after new information becomes available? Most forums that I'm a member of allow the person who starts a thread to continue to edit the first post. (And any subsequent post, I suppose.) The first post in a thread is important because it is where updates and new versions of attachments go so that other members don't have to sift through pages of posts that they don't care about. Allowing this feature would improve my experience.

It's the immature individuals who go through and delete out their posts in a fit of rage. That's why posts get locked on many forums, including ECF. 48 hours is rather generous. Most forums I've participated in lock 'em within 12 hours.

Immature individuals??? Here??? ;) :p
