Hello all,

I have been vaping for about 6 months now and have found it to be a fantastic alternative to smoking. Anyway I am trying to find a quality EGO style device. I started with an EGO kit that I found at a corner store in manhattan. The kit was okay. In fact one of the batteries has turned out to be the best PV I have had to date. It seems to run quite a bit hotter than the other EGOs I have had and has not come apart or had any problems. Sadly the other battery died after a week. Since then I have had a lava tube and 4 EGOs which have all been either broken or have come apart from just sitting in my pocket. Thing is I prefer the EGOs to the Lava tube and other larger PVs because I want to put them in my pocket etc.

I am fairly sure the supplier that I have been using is not putting out reliable products. I have had a number of dead on arrival cartos and attys from them and even before the EGOs have broken the connections have been recessed to far into the PV to get many 510 connection products to work. I have not had these problems with things I have gotten from other companies.

So what are some good ego or ego style options for someone who uses LR cartos and attys? Something that will be sturdy in the pocket and last.

Thanks

Hi Ben, welcome to the ECF.
Do your eGo batteries have the Joye logo on the bottom?

I have been vaping for 3 years and never had an eGo or Riva battery fail yet, except for a 3 voltage selection battery which came apart when I pulled on it wrong. Maybe I've been lucky or you've been unlucky. Bought all batteries at Liberty Flights or Cignot. Also I've been using LR atomizers (1.8 ohms) which they say is harder on batteries. Of course, I alternate between 2 or 3 batteries to be sure they're all charged.

Unfortunately, the batteries keep getting better so I may NEVER wear out the old batteries. The latest is the TWIST, which I fear makes all the old batteries inferior, so they may never be used much again !

No they are not Joye batteries. I forgot to mention the buttons sticking. This has been another issue. Are the Joyes generally the most reliable? Hard to figure out if I should go for a Joye or Volcano or kgo etc...

IMO when it comes to eGos there is only one way to go JoyeTech.

Ditto - I get mine from cignot, heaven gifts and liberty flights - all have close relationships with joyetech and joye logos on all Joye products listed.

Also suggest getting a hard case (reading glass case is usually the smallest) for a pocket carry.

I have one like this - but it's a transparent 'smoke' color. I put a carto rubber in the bottom which stops the eGo from rattling around ;) It has a pocket clip as well but I usually throw it in the "thigh pockets" of cargo pants/shorts. Available (without glasses) at Walmart, Target.... A backpocket jeans carry is just looking for trouble....

A 650mah or even a 900mah eGo battery is good for pocket carry. Use Boge LR cartos with those batteries and you will get good vapes. The cone slides over the carto and helps to support it laterally so that it makes a good pocket carry. You also want the 5 click batteries (I think they all are now).

Joyetech is the brand to look for. It's worth asking the vendor if they are real Joyetech batteries. All of mine have come from Cignot or Liberty Flights. You can trust them to send you the real thing.

Be advised that some batteries are true 3.7v batts and others are regulated to 3.4v. It's a matter of choice. With the 3.7v batteries, they will start out great and wind down in voltage as you vape. The 3.4v regulated batts give you a consistent vape from start to finish. It you use Boge 2.0 ohm cartos or a Smoktech DCT 1.5 ohm tank, you will get nice vapor and good flavor from a 3.4v battery.

I have the new Joye ego-C Twist. Awesome battery. I love the vv. I love sweets at 3.6, fruits at 3.2/3.4 and week juices at 4.0. It has a smooth draw. I use the Stardust visions clearomizer LR and just love it. I cannot put it down. This is the first setup that has made me drop the ciggies because of the draw. It is awesome, check out some reviews on youtube. It rocks :p

Well, the nice things is that you have quite a few choices, depending on what you want.

Joyetech makes a great battery, and many people use them here on ECF. Joye produces batteries that are regulated at 3.4V, some can switch from regulated to unregulated (4.2V off the charger and dwindles to 3.3V as it is used), some can switch between 3.4 to 3.7 to 4.2V, and finally, there is the eGo-C Twist which is fully adjustable from 3.2-4.8V. All of these can be found at Liberty Flights. You can find the Twist in Batteries-> eGo-C as they are not available in kits.

If you are frugal with your $$$, the Smoktech EGO from Liberty Flights is another option. They run $30-32 for a kit, depending on if you want 650 or 900 mah batteries. The cartomizers included in the kits are highly regarded and widely used by ECF members.

If you buy from Liberty Flights use the coupon code "october20" for 20% off everything. :)

You also mentioned the KGO, which is another great choice. This is an unregulated battery that runs at 4.1-4.2V off the charger and gradually declines. There are quite a few vendors that have this available. All the vendors carry the 1100mah model, which is very pocket friendly, but Sweet-Vapes also carries the 650mah version, in case you prefer something a little smaller. The other vendors include Hoosier e-Cig Supply, Dark City Vapors, Elite Vapor Works, Northwest Vapors, and Virgin Vapor.

i like the feel of the mushy button on the em-riva although i recently dropped one and it's now acting flaky. i also like the 3 push on/off option on the riva instead of the 5 stiff click on the joyetech.

i'll be in manhattan later this month and wondering if are any good vaping stores downtown in the canal street area. if you love the battery you got there, mabe you should go back to the same store and get another, and try it out before you leave with it.
