Went through various threads and couldn't find it (I'm sure it's been talked about before?!).

Of all the batts that I have, it had to happen to one of my favorites. That's always the way that goes, isn't it?: In a hurry, put eGo on truck seat and sat down on it (forgot it was there). The carto broke off at the thread and leaked all over the place including the gap around the on/off button of the battery. I got the broke off piece from the carto out, but - for the life of me - I cannot figure out, how to remove the button.

This is a newer version battery, 1000mAh, with logo, tank style (5-click off). It's a hard plastic button and - as mentioned - some e-liquid (0 nic) leaked into the battery housing at the button. The battery works (I don't want to put it on charger as long as I still have liquid inside the housing) and I've been careful to keep the threaded part pointing downwards. I've wiped the battery off several times now and everytime I depress the button, there's a little bit more liquid oozing out.

How do I go about getting the button off so I can clean that mess up???

I'd consider setting it connector end down in a shotglass full of vodka to dissolve the juice, repeating until clear. I'd then use a thermometer shake to get excess vodka out and let it sit over a heat register for a day or so. Disassembly might not turn into successful reassembly. I bet you'll be OK as long as the liquid doesn't get too gummy before you clean it. Good luck!

I appreciate the prompt response, but that isn't going to work. The battery end is sealed and the vodka would not get into the battery from the battery end (only through the gap at the button). Further, I'm pretty sure that the PCB is right behind the button. I just took a pic:

Don't know, if you an see it, but I just pressed the button and there's a bit of fluid right around the button. What a bummer!

Here goes ... geez, I'm sweating bullets. I've just placed my pretty purple batt into a shot glass of isopropyl alcohol. Only added enough to cover the button

I just wrote the above when I noticed the battery light coming on (less than 10 secs after putting the battery in), so I'm interrupting this little experiment prior to frying the battery. Obviously I'm shorting out the battery by immersing the contacts on the PCB in the alcohol.

1SicPuppy, You've made my day!

I just got it apart (used a metric air compressor fitting - luckily I have those handy for my airbrushing equipment) and found out that the inside of the battery was coated in e-liquid/alcohol. I dried everything off as good as I could (the switch board is iffy to clean off) and pushed the button ... seems to be working fine. I'm gonna let everything air out for a few hours before I put it back together.

BTW, it takes a LOT more force to take the connector off than what's shown in the video. It took over 5 minutes of shifting and pulling and there's some sticky glue around the connector (not sure, but it might have been sticky because of the alcohol).

Thanks to all responding and helping me save my "purple alcoholic" (that's what I'm gonna call it from now on).

i had my ego in my pocket while fishing the other day and the battery came apart just like that on accident though... the wire came off (no big deal) but where i'm having trouble is getting the button back inside the housing and still being able to put it all back together... if i put the button out of the hole were it goes then try to push it back together it doesn't fit with the button there, if i leave the button out and try to get it all back together as one unit it doesn't fit... any ideas?
