eGo-C Battery just shorted

Hey all,

Just had a 650mAh battery seriously die on me. I went upstairs, put it on the side, went to get something and when I picked it up 2 minutes later nearly burned my hand and it smelled really strongly of acetone. Had to wrap it in my jumper just to bring it back downstairs. Once it had cooled down enough to rip to pieces, I took it apart to find that the battery itself was actually soft. I'm not talking about the neoprene-style caps at top and bottom (which were really soft, like tar), but the actual battery had 2 strips running it's entire length that I could squeeze. Anyone come across this before?
Anyway, that one's for the bin, as is the T3 atty that was on it at the time (luckily I got some more through this morning). Can't wait for my itaste SVD to come through - the sooner I'm off this eGo, the better

Joyetech one. At least now I can be totally sure it was - there's a barcode sticker on the battery with Joyetech printed on it. Just had another look at the battery and the ends are rounded outwards - looks like I was lucky it didn't blow.

Glad you didn't get hurt.
Your story is a little bit scary. I was really reluctant to use ecig since you have to manipulate a battery near your mouth. I hope this is really an exceptionnal case.

No - the thing's worked fine for 4 months, it was just an out of the blue thing. Ah well, at least I've got 3 more batteries to keep me going and my lightsaber on the way!

I applaud your bravery for even taking it apart. Thats an insta-toss for me. Maybe chuck it in somebodys trash can if you hate them.
