I think I figured it out.
I have adjusted the wicks on a handful of standard and low resistance atomizers (new and used) to try to get rid of the harsh burnt plastic taste with no luck.
Last night I put a new low resistance atomizer in both cones and didn't touch the wicks. I put some Copper Creek Coffee that is 60% VG and 40% PG in one and some 100% PG Banana from Aqua Vapor in the other. After priming them both and using them I got the burnt taste after about 5 hits with the coffee. I'm still using the Banana now without a hint of a bad taste.
So I believe the issue is that the C atomizers have trouble wicking VG and I mean any percentage of VG because I have some FSUSA Voodoo that is 50/50 PG/VG that gives me the unpleasant taste pretty quick after popping in a new atomizer also.

So am I on to something? Does anyone use VG juice in their C model without issues? Do I just have two batches of bad atomizers? or am I just unlucky with this model?

I depends on whether it's thinned by the supplier. I have some 80/20 juices that are much thinner than my pure PG juice. If left undiluted, PG is more viscous than VG but some suppliers thin the juice so you can't always judge the viscosity by the amount of VG in it. Like I said, if you have trouble with some juices not wicking, try thinning a small amount of it and see if that helps.

Update - took out the wick plate (wick came loose - ugh) (curious nature) and found that they wouldn't do a dry burn the coil was very dark - so dark I simply couldn't see if the coil was in one piece or not - these are really small and too hard for me to see the details on. I think they must have just been defective - but I have a good vendor and think they will replace without any problem. Vickie's video on UTube was really helpful - thanks to all who responded to my question.

Ego-C - I seem to have burned out (or used up) two atomizer heads in five days - perhaps because of my coffee juice - but I was under the impression that you could clean these atomizer heads same as the bigger types - hot water, soak in coke - let them dry and they are good to go. Problem is that's not working for me - can someone please tell me if these can be cleaned or not? Also, in both cases, it was working fine one moment and dead the next - no sizzle - no vapor - no taste - does this mean it's time to bury them? Would appreciate hearing anyone else's advise on this? Thanks!

They can be cleaned just like any other atomizer. they are just a wick and a coil. every time i tried cleaning with everclear i ended up with a vomit taste so i just do a hot water bath in a jewelry cleaner for a while then a hot water rinse after that. you say they are quitting on you all of a sudden, do you change them without removing the cone? Or do you unscrew the cone then put it back on to see if it still works? you might have a connection issue going on.

Here are some different strategies for cleaning the Ego-C http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...le-ego-c-changeble-system-42.html#post5019417

I only dry burn and have used the same atty for months

Thanks for the feedback - I did take the cone off when I made the change, but I will try again and let you know. Maybe I just got a couple of bummers.

I get breathing problems with PG and therefore am limited to using 100% VG juices in my eGo-C. Like most new users of the eGo tank system, I had some of those horrible burnt taste episodes in the beginning but now I never have wicking problems even with very thick VG juices. Here's what I've learned along the way -

1. When you're starting up a new tank fresh out of the wrapper, always punch out the wick hole before you fill it by inserting it into the atty cone, then removing it and popping off the tank cap so you can check for and remove any hanging chad. This is important because hanging chads can block the flow of juice into the atty wick spike.

2. Never completely fill a tank, always leave room for an air bubble.

3. After inserting a newly filled tank, always flip your eGo upside down (mouthpiece down) and upright a few times and make sure that an air bubble floats up to the top of the tank when it's held upright.

4. Before starting to vape on a newly filled tank, dry drag until you start to see a small bubble or two float up after each drag. If you don't see small air bubbles floating up after a few dry drags, try tapping the atty cone against the palm of your hand a few times. Those little air bubbles tell you that juice has started wicking, so do not start vaping until you see them. This is an especially important step because sometimes a small air bubble will form on the tip of the atty spike of a newly filled tank and block the juice from wicking into the atty.

I hope this helps.

Oneida's advices are all you need to know about good liquid flow in eGo-C.
I am using pure VG and mixed PG-VG liquids and can't tell any difference. Both flow perfectly, never had any problems.

In my experience, silicone caps are causing most of the problems with "burned" taste, too much heating, etc... Remove them and use plastic caps - proper eGo-C atomizer never leaks.

(As seen in the above mentioned thread)

Adjust the tank to the atomizer. You've got the two flats on the side of the spike plate and the two flats on the side of the tank.

I had one liquid that would "leak" when lined up ||, it would occasionally get a burnt taste that way. Lined up -| it would almost always have the burnt taste. Lined up more in the middle like -/ fixed it. No more flooded cone, no more burnt taste.
I don't know why it works, I mic'ed things and don't see why it would but it seems to make a difference.

I also use PG free.
