Try a dry burn. Cycle the atty on for about 4 seconds at a time until you see it glow. If it gets hot doing this I set it down and let it cool then go back to cycling.
After you see it glow toss it in an ultrasonic if you have one or rinse it with water. If you don't have an ultrasonic you may have to take the spike plate off to get it rinsed out.

Thanks Myk. I think it's the wick issue though, not the coil itself. The coils were a bit black, but they function just find as DD. I do know about dry burns, as I performed them with my 510 atty's. Will that do anything for the wick? I'd think that it would just end up burning the rope making for really gross hits.

I didn't pull off my spike plate when doing a dry burn and it made the wick glow. After I took it from the ultrasonic everything I could see looked like new including the top of the wick (not that it was that old but I've been chain vaping getting over cigarettes).

The wick shouldn't burn. Another way is to pull the plate and flame the rope.

Mine gave nasty burnt flavors until I ran it through the ultrasonic. I probably could've vaped through it but didn't want to.

I think I need to get myself one of these ultrasonic cleaners. My isopropyl bottle shaking isn't doing the trick.
I just changed my atty last night, so I'll try to dry burn on a regular basis and see if that helps. And that's how I feel about the atomizer heads. I don't really get a burnt taste, it's more just a lack of flavour. I could definitely vape through it, but like you, I just don't want to!
