Ego-cc clearomizer issues.

Hey guys, I have an Ego-CC clearomizer (the one with the metal case, with two small windows on the side) and I have been having issues with this thing. For one, I cant put any power to it without getting a mouth full of charcoal taste 3.8 is absolute max. I recently took it apart to clean it, with a newish (maybe 3 hours total vape on it) atomizer and went to take a puff, and I get zero juice taste, just burnt junk. No matter what I fiddle with, its the same. Can this thing already be burnt out? Anyone else using one of these?

In my limited knowledge, the burned taste is always in the wick. Have you tried putting a small amount of distilled water in it, and burning it off? Also, did you burn the coils off? I don't know if you can do it with an Ego, but I've cleaned out a burned taste on the heads on my Kangertech's by stripping it down to just the coil and the wick (not the flavor wick), and cycled it until the coils burned off and was glowing nicely - then kept blowing into the cavity to get rid of any debris, reassembled, and used it.

Also, you may have water in the wick you need to burn off.

I was told you can take these things down to the coil, but I couldnt get it apart. I dont have any distilled water right now, Can I use some bottled water lol? I dont have any more coils for it, so im really wanting to salvage this thing until I can get some more. Someone even told me I can soak the head in Alcohol, but wasnt too sure about that lol.

Hi

Sorry to hear you're having problems.

Since you mentioned setting your battery device at 3.8, I'm guessing it's variable voltage. I'm not familiar with an eGo-CC, there are too many products to keep up with these days.

Anyway, what is the resistance of the clearo? And what is the pg/vg ratio of the juice you are using?

You can try a vodka soak. cover heads, swish, rest,swish... 30-60 mins should be fine.

But I think with the construction of those heads...burnt is burnt...

Good luck

I hope you have something else to use.

You were told you could "take these things down to coil, but I couldnt get it apart." The way you phrased that gives me a bad feeling. What were you trying to get apart? What happened to the wick?

You can clean the heads of most devices by soaking them. Some people use PGA or vodka, I use hot water.

I remember what an eGo-CC is now. I read the specs on them when they came out. I could be wrong, but I don't think the heads on that style are designed to be taken apart. Perhaps the person who told the OP he could, thought he was talking about a different type of clearo.

(Sorry for the awkward post, I was actually directing my reply to the OP, but referencing the picture. I'm sleepy.)

Did you get an extra atomizer with your CC? If so, what happens when you try it. The above picture show what it looks like when broken down, the atomizer is the gizmo on the far left.

FWIW I have a CC, and didn't have to do anything special with it to get started, I vaped with it right out of the box.

Check the resistance of your coil with a multimeter.

Ego-cc clearomizers are made in China. Quality control is sacrificed on the altar of price. You have to manually verify the actual resistance as opposed to relying on the printed material it came with.

Based on your description, your coil resistance is lower than you think it is.

Sorry for the late response. I think this head was labeled as 1.7 ohm, while the first was 2.5 I think. And the person who said it can be takin apart down to the coil was referring to the older style ego-cc atomizers, but said they were the same as this one which turned out to be not true. Im not even sure if im going to waste my money buying an atomizer for this thing, like I said its been sub-par since a local B&M sold it to me and ive messed with it since. And not being able to vape at anything over 3.8 kind of sucks. Juice im using is 70/30 I think.

Open the atomizer head (use the tip of a small screwdriver or a knife) and make sure the wick is long enough. You can pull it a little bit if needed. I had this problem with a set of 5 heads and solved it after destroying 1 of them :) If you don't want to open the head, you can try to push the wick down 1mm with a paper clip directly from the spike. This is how it should look like:
