I'm working out what my next step is going to be, since buying minis at local retailers has frankly jumped the shark. I think I'd like a tank system or something, because dripping seems a bit more effort than I want to put in.

Initially, I was thinking of the eGo CE4 1100mAh Kit, from High Desert Vapes or the Riva 510-T-XL Bundle from Liberty-Flights. They both work out around $40, give or take.

But then I came across the joyetech eGo-C system. A lot of folks on here have had good things to say about it and I like the idea of being able to just replace the heads rather than the whole atomizer, but it's more than twice as much as the other two ($100) and you only get 650mAh batteries.

So, guide me please. Is there one option of the three that I've mentioned that stands out above the others?

Or, is my best bet to buy one of the first two and then use the Joyetech atomizers with it?

Thanks!

I'm a few weeks in and bought one of the kits you mention (from the same vendor, even), and I promise you: you're far better off buying a la carte than getting a kit. A kit will invariably come with parts you don't want/need/use and you wind up replacing those with things you do want/need/use and you wind up spending more in the first month than necessary.

  • Buy 2 batteries. 650 mAh or higher (though know that the 1000 mAh are quite long and slim). I have a 1000 mAh pass-through that lets me vape while it charges and swear by it. Many will recommend the eGo Twist or Vision Spinner so you can have variable voltage. I have a cheapie 650 variable voltage as well. This means I have a big one for home (or work) and a small one to carry out and about.
  • Buy a charger
  • Buy at least 2 clearos (aka CE4, CE5, Kanger T3s, anything that holds a ml or 2 of juice). The "tanks" that come with the eGO and/or Riva "tank" systems are a joke. I have several of them and got tired of fiddling with them 4 hours into vaping.
  • Buy at least 3 different juices, but probably more (get different flavor types and nic levels, you don't know what you need or want yet!)
For this type of purchase, I like MyFreedomSmokes.com out of Charlotte NC. They have decent prices, a good selection of hardware, and a decent selection of juices to get you started. Down the road you'll wind up buying juice at Store A and hardware and Store B, but I know buying it all at once place is nice when you get started.

eGo CE4 1100mAh Kit, from High Desert Vapes fires at 3.2, 3.7 or 4.2 volts. Also notice the clearos have the older short wicks= dry burns and wicking issues.
Riva 510-T-XL Bundle from Liberty-Flights fires at 3.7 volts BUT comes with the older tank system (atomizer+ cartridge) and is prone to leakage.
The Joyetech eGo-C system. It fires at 3.3 volts.
The Riva or Kgo is a good buy. They are basically the same. There is a website that sells a Kgo Kit with Vivi Novas but the name escapes me. Here's a review on the Kgo

Thanks folks. Now for round two of my questions.

I looked at the kGo - it seems very similar to the ego. I also looked at a la carte vs kits. Finally, I found that High Desert Vapes do a CE4-C clearo with replaceable coils.

Then I started to do the math - by the time I've bought a couple 100 batteries, chargers etc I'll have spent as much as the kit from HDV costs - it's on sale at $37.

So, here's what I'm leaning towards: to get started, I'll buy that kit, plus a couple of CE4-C clearos and four replacement coils.

The thing is, I haven't been able to find any opinions of the CE4-C...

I bought this kit and have been very happy with it. One battery lasts almost 2 full days. And you get 2 of them, charger, 2 clearos

I'd highly recommend adding some Kanger T3 or MT3's - didn't much care for the included clearos but that's personal preference.

Kit is 45.99, Kangers 5.49 (also may want a few extra atty's for those - they're somewhere around 2.49 each)

So, you'd get:

eGo 1100mah starter kit
2 Kanger T3s
2 Bottom coil replacements for Kangers

Total for all would be 61.95 + shipping

I've ordered a bunch from them and have never been disappointed. Usually ships same day, which means I get it in 2 days.

Cheers, Bubba - I did like the look of those MT3s. Sadly, they are out of liquid and I'm looking to do it all in one order, if I can.

I've refined my options a bit further, backtracking on my kit idea and going with premium batteries etc. I can't always compare like with like, but here's what I have now:

From High Desert Vapes - Two CE4-C clearos, four replacement coils, one eGo-C Twist 1100 bat, one eGo-T 1100 bat, a USB charger and 60ml of liquid. Total $93, shipped.

From LiteCigUSA - Two Vision eGo V2 clearos, four replacement heads, one eGo-C Twist 1000 bat, one Mega eGo-C 1000 bat, a USB charger and 60ml of liquid. Total $107, shipped.

From Liberty Flights - a Joye eGo-C 1000mAh starter kit and 60ml liquid. Total $120, shipped.

High Desert Vapes have the cheapest price, but I'm leaning to one of the other two because they have Silk Cut flavoured liquid. That was my brand when I lived in England, years ago...

Any thoughts on the clearos that I've found? Is the Joye eGo-C atomizer / cart arrangement much better, or does its strength lie in the battery?

You should check out DiscountVapers, they have a starter kit that has 2 eGo 1100Mah Variable Voltage batteries, 2 CE4+ Clearomizers, charger, usb cable, and case for $45.99 + shipping. They also sell e-juice. When I started out I went through most of the stuff you have been asking about and wished I had gotten a variable voltage battery to start with. If you can't vary the voltage you will burn the coils on the clearomizer much faster and end up getting frustrated at the taste of your eliquid, it tastes bad when you burn a coil up...

You can see the starter kit here.... eCig Starter Kit - 1100mah

Just to wrap this up; I went with the kit that Bubba suggested, from Discount Vapers, along with some Kanger MT3s and coils, plus a couple of syringes.

Some further digging suggested that the average vaper gets through 3ml a day, so I bought 100ml (10 x 10ml) of Dekang "Silk Cut" flavour from LiteCigUSA.

That should give me a month or so, in which I can bulk order some from China, via Zainy.

There's an irony here, in that when I first moved to the USA I was disappointed not to be able to buy Silk Cut. Eventually, I learned that the tobacco companies had had their pet stooges at the FDA make the requirements for introducing new brands too onerous, to restrict competition.

Now, when I've quit analog cigs, all of a sudden I'll get to enjoy the taste of Silk Cut again. It's like a surprise present, or the relief of suddenly not being gang-banged by a big-corporate / big-government tag-team, or both. :D

I had this same problem, I wanted the clearos, however, I bought a kit with carts, standard and low resistance atomizers, two 650 mah batts, drip tip and liquid for 50 bucks. I figured this was best for me because I am not sure what exactly it is I want, as far as flavors and such, so i could drip flavors and discover what it is I will be buying most of. Then, I will go to a local store and get a clearo. I also really wanted to try dripping, mixing flavors, and start vaping on a college student budget. :2cool:
Everyone here on ECF is so helpful, it's great! My head has been a hurricane of information since I discovered the greatness of vaping!
