Morning folks,
I am sure this information is here somewhere and I did search but I did not come up with an answer.

I am leaving for England tomorrow and I had planned on picking up a USB charger for 18350 to 18650 batteries to run on my laptop from my local vape shop as I know they carry them (or at least they did...). I stroll on in and get "deer in headlights" when I ask for the charger. My mistake, I should have gotten this squared away a month ago but that chore just got lost in the shuffle.

So now I don't have time to order one online and am looking for a way to charge my batteries while away. I have an old EGO charger and was thinking this would be an elegant solution as I plan to take a mechanical mod or two anyway. I can screw the EGO charger right in to the 510 connection of a mechanical mod.

I know the charge times are long and I can work with that, my issue is if there are any safety concerns with using an EGO charger for 18650 batteries. It is my belief that the smart part of the charging system in the EGO / EGO charger which shuts down the charge cycle is in the charger itself. To my thinking, this means that the EGO charger I have with a 4.2V output will shut off the charge to my 18650 battery once it reaches 4.2V. Is this correct?

Also, assuming all of that is correct, would I need so complete the circuit in the mod by locking down the fire button?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Getting a charger in England would be a better solution, since their plugs are different from ours, I think. And most places discourage charging removable batteries that way; you need a charger which will charge batteries that are removed from the mod. Or take an eGo style battery with you, or something like an iTaste vv3 or MVP2 or iStick, which is made to charge from USB; removable batteries aren't made to charge that way.

And I might as well add... most people seem to think that charging from your computer is a bad idea, because if somethng goes wrong during the charging, you risk not just the charger and mod, but the computer itself as well.

Deliver to the address in England is an interesting idea and I had not thought of that. Adapter I have (which will work for the laptop) but in order to use my normal charger I would need a converter.

My first option is to use the EGO charger. If however, that is not safe then my back-up is to buy something like an Istick or MVP from the local vape shop here.
