I have this PT that outputs 2.88;3.6;4.2 4.8 when used with a 500mA USB wall adapter. The instructions state that this is perfectly acceptable, (using only a 5V/ 500mA source), but I have read that anything lower than 5V/2A will not perform as intended. I did have a 2A power supply but it broke and am awaiting my replacement from China. In the meantime I am forced to use the 500mA supply when not using my batteries. My batteries are 1 x 650mA generic Ego batt and 2 x 1000mA Ego C upgrades and my choice of clearomizers are Kanger Pro tank minis ver. 1 & 2. I prefer my coils between 2.0 & 2.15 ohms, now comes the rub!!! All my coils with a range of between 2.07 and 2.5 work on all my batteries although the higher ohms produce less vapor and flavor (that is understood) any coil < 2.2 will not work on the 500mA PT. All the these worked with the 2A supply, any coil < 2.3 either is not recognized or just blinks when connected. I test my coils on an ohm meter from Discount Vapers (ver. 1 ohm meter only). I also have some proper usage questions with this ohm meter. I always try to set my tanks down finger tight, the same as I place them onto my batteries & PT, but if tightened very slightly more or less the readings go up or down slightly : Example finger tight reads 2.3 slightly more torque and it drops to 2.22 or 2.38 when tightened slightly more will register 2.46. What's thee deal with these varying readings? I am using a 510 to Ego adapter but I always check to make sure that is in good contact with the tester. Oh by the way, if connected to my computer USB or cable box USB the PT will fire the aforementioned tanks (< 2.2 ohms work) now that's because these ports are putting out more than 500mA right? Thanks

You are on the right track... to run lower ohm coils you need a supply that can push the voltage thru... lower ohms need higher amps to work. as far as the varying ohms, the coils in the Protank type setups have that insulator ring in the bottom, as you tighten/loosen the fit on the battery/PT, the pressure on the wires at that point change, thus changing the contact resistance...

I have some pt ego style batteries. When fully dead, then plugged in, I can't chain vape but I can still vape while its charging. I haven't tried a straight pt without a battery. I have some 2a USB wall adapters I prefer to use even though they usually come with a 500mah or 1amp charger.

Get a innokin vv3. It's a pads through battery with a built in ohm reader and vv/vw.
