I have an ego-T battery which a nice member previously identified as 650 mah. Can I safely charge it using the usb side port of my xtar wp 211 charger? The charger's box says "USB 5V/500mA output.

Is your eGo 650 a passthrough? The passthroughs have a cap that unscrews from the .... end and reveals a plug in. Or is this the type you have to screw the attachment end of the eGo into the charger?
Yes, the charger looks exactly like your pic and it does have a usb port on one side. And yes, my ego has a cap that unscrews and reveals a plug in.
Then you can plug your eGo into any usb port. Including the one on that device.
It's not recommended to plug your eGo passthrough into the usb ports on your computer. But if you do, DO NOT HIT THE DEVICE WITH IT PLUGGED IN. You could draw too much power and fry your computer.

You can charge your eGo from that USB port....but....that USB is only powered by inserting a charged battery and removing the power cord. It is meant as an emergency power source. You'll only get about 2-3 hours out of a high capacity 18650. Good for emergencies, not so much for normal use.

lol have the same charger yea its only for charging something in an emergency say you need your phone on the side of the road but its dead etc etc.
If your ego batteries fry your computer, you needed a new computer anyway imho.
Most computers will have no issue with charging an ego battery while it's being used, as the power you are drawing is from the battery. When you are using it is coming from the battery not the USB port. "Ego Passthru's" are not actually passthru's. If they were I would have blown my front usb's months ago with a dual coil on my ego, pulling 4.4 amps. USB 1.0 supplies a max of 100ma, so yeah that would have went boom awhile ago.

Thanks to everyone for the information. The reason I was asking is that when I go to work, I have all these devices that need charging. My Provari is arriving today (wheeeee!) so my Ego 650 will be my back up and I always want them charged. But I'd like to cut down on the number of chargers I carry around. I thought I might be able to use the xtar for everything else and just bring their cables.
If I have 3 18490 batteries fully charged in the morning, that should be enough to last me the whole day, right?
