Ego or Ego Mega?

I bought a 510 some time back and am in the market to upgrade to a larger battery. I'm considering an Ego because of the compatibility with my stock of spare parts. I'm wondering if I should just go for the Ego Mega instead of the regular Ego. I don't really need the extra battery life, but I've read that batteries start to lose some life after a few months of use. It would also be nice to not charge batteries as often. I can get an Ego kit or piece together an Ego Mega setup for about $20 more with LR atty's which I prefer and the larger capacity batteries. The only things I'd be missing are the box and the carrying case which don't interest me anyway. So, I'm interested in getting some opinions.

I started with a 510 and quickly bought an eGo. I bought a couple of eGo mega's as backups and I don't find the battery life to be any better than a standard eGo. I vape like a freight train and get about 4 sometimes 5 hours out of both.

Yah, I've got 650 and 900 mAh batteries. The XLs last longer, for me anyway. That would be expected unless the XLs were defective ... always a possibility.

I'm not buying any more of the regular batteries due to the extended charge time on the XLs, and the difference in price is so small, just a couple dollars usually. Plus, I like the physically larger size better too. YMMV.

I like the way the Ego is pretty small and last a gazillion times longer than a reg 510 or a Super Minni.

That's what I thought too, and that's one of the reasons I was asking for opinions. It would be nice to charge once a day but if I can't get that with the Mega, I might as well go with the regular Ego. It doesn't seem like many people are using the Mega yet. Another option I considered is to order an Ego kit and a Mega bat, the cost would only be a few dollars more than putting together a strictly Mega setup and I'd have 3 batt's. I'd then be able to make a comparison.

Let me clarify, about my post #4.

There is, I believe, a mega 510 battery. It is the same diameter as the regular 510 battery. I don't have their respective mAh values, but the mega is higher than the regular.

Then, there are the eGo/Tornado batteries, which also come in two mAh values. Those seem to have been what you were talking about, based on the 650 & 900 mAh you cited, along with the sometimes cited (but questionable) 1000 mAh.

It was the eGo/Tornado (TorneGo) batteries which I was talking about. And, yes, there is a difference besides the fact that the XL is phyically longer. It LASTs longer on a charge, there is no doubt. And, as I said in post #4, it only costs about 10% more than the regular battery. That's why I'll only buy the XL from now on. I mean, why would you buy the 650 mAh battery when the price difference is so tiny? The only reason I can think of is if the size bothers you ... again, I like the way the XL fits in my hand better too.

Either one is likely going to last through a work day. My XLs last through the work day and well into the evening.

I really like the eGo xl.that I got from tastyvapor. It's 900 mah and puts out 4.2v on a full charge. Its not a Joye product but they get good reviews and they're only 18 bucks.

I have 2 650mah ego's and one 900mah. The 900 goes about one third longer between charges, is a small bit heaver and about 1/2 an inch longer.

Besides that I can't detect any difference. I believe I prefer the 650's but I have small hands. If your hands are larger you might prefer a 900. The rotten thing about online ordering is you can't see and feel a thing before you buy it.

I have the standard eGo batt and it lasts me about a day and a half, and I vape pretty constantly. I just ordered (should be here any day...) their USB battery, same as the standard battery but functions like a PT (can vape while plugged in, and it still charges). Should be perfect, I spend most of the day at a computer (so it'll stay charged) and can just unplug it when I leave and have it good all day without worry.

I've used both the 650mAh and 900 mAh. I prefer the 900 mAh becuse the size is a more natural fit in my hand and the longer batt life

Thanks RIMP and Kusha for mentioning how the size feels. I'm a big guy, 6'3" with XL hands. It seems like between battery size, duration, and the cost differential, logic dictates that I go with the Mega setup. Thanks all for your input, I appreciate it.

Let me clarify, about my post #4.

The mega 510 battery is longer, long enough that non smokers noticed it on mine, and lasts much much longer than the regular length battery, well worth it. Takes longer to charge too, but with 2 batteries you will never be unpowered while the other is charging.

Are you on a computer often? If so, I HIGHLY recommend the janty usb passthrough (Janty USA - eGo USB Battery) battery setup - I love mine. I mean LOVE it. While my husband is constantly (ok, not really, but it seems like it!) fiddling with his ego batteries, I'm good to go at all times. When I'm at the computer or on a road trip I keep it plugged in, then take it off when I need to be more mobile. It's a little longer than a regular eGo battery (probably about as long as a mega, not sure), but it's really slick and well made and comfortable to use.

I bought the battery setup, use regular or LR 510 atty's, and bought a cone & drip tip separately and couldn't be happier. I couldn't even tell you how long a charge lasts because I think I've let it run down maybe twice in a little less than a month.

My favorite part is that by cycling through complimentary flavors throughout the day I don't have to fuss with my atty, ever. So say I start off with french toast, then go to butterscotch almond, then onto french vanilla... then back to french toast the next morning. I only touch the atty about every 2nd or 3rd day to blow it out and change to something drastically different like peach or whatever.

I'd redo my purchase again and again - which reminds me, goodprophets.com has awesome drip tips on sale for .99 each - so go ahead and think about one of those in stainless with a stainless cone from them also (they call it an ego cover) and you're good to go.

ETA: I highly recommend the stainless tapered drip tips if you drip - they are SO comfortable, which was my concern.
