So, a couple of friends of mine recently purchased the eGo passthrough batteries, mainly for the convenience of charging while vaping. One of the asked me the other day why his button had changed from blue to an orange color. I had no idea, but found his "instructions" from his box and found out that there were two different settings available on this battery. One is a constant voltage, and the other is a variable voltage. This variable voltage setting is not user defined like on a vv type PV, so what is the story with that setting? I put instructions in quotation marks earlier because the instructions tell you how to change from one setting to the other, but not what the purpose of either one is. To a newbie this can be very confusing. A BIG thumbs down to the local brick and mortar that sold these devices for not explaining this to their customers. I use a standard 510 eGo 900 mah for daily use and a new vmax for at home so I get the variable voltage (I actually use the vw option) on my vmax, but not this "oddball" vv of the ego passthrough. Detailed help so I can help these friends decide how to best utilize their device would be very helpful. Thanks.

^^^This is what I assumed.^^^ So, the only time you would really want to use the VV setting would be if you were plugged in and able to take advantage of the higher volts. If you were using the vv setting, it would seem that the voltage would be constantly changing (dropping) with battery charge and thus your vape would change with it. Doesn't seem like a good option when not plugged in. Correct??

I've been using these for several months. I don't use them as a PT, I just like the plug-in charger :). I keep them on Unregulated (orange) and they're much better than my old egos.

Mostly all Joye suppliers' will be having these as their regular ego for all kits (C,T) and will be replacing the Reg-only types.

These DO have more safety circuitry in them also which is alone worth switching for.

Mine, set on Orange and unplugged give a great vape for 3-4 hrs of constant vaping. All the time better than a regular ego, even with just a 2.0 BogeLR on it.

Also gdavis, the joye eGo-c's, except for the upgrade batts and pts, are regulated batts with voltage at 3.3-3.4v. With the upgrade batts and pts, in the constant (white to blue) mode you're getting 3.3-3.4Volts - even with the pt connected. In the orange mode you're getting close to 4.2 when connected. If you're power vaping while connected you'll get into the 3.7 area but when it charges back up you're in the 4.1-4.2v area. If you disconnect in the constant mode - you'll have a constant 3.3-3.4v until the end like any other eGo batt. Disconnected in the 'vv' mode you'll have the same curve as any unregulated batt 4.1 at the start, 3.6-3.7v for most of the charge down to 3.2v at the end....

I just got a passthrough, and it has a window at the bottom with the voltage setting. It also has something I wasn't expecting. It has a counter. Every time I take a puff, it racks it up. On the instruction sheet, it said the battery was good for 500 puffs per charge, and 300 charges. I think that's fine, I have 5 batteries and they should last me a good long time. However, I do NOT like this thing lighting up with a bright blue light in the square with each puff, showing the # of puffs taken. Is there any way to disable this function? If not, I'll probably just find something to slip over it to cover the light. This wasn't mentioned in the description by the supplier.
