So, I had ordered my ego-t last week in desperation to stop dripping every 3 minutes. It works basically flawlessly, except a few concerns of mine have arose.

1.) Am I really tasting plastic? or am I just being over paranoid after reading other people wonder the same thing.

2.) Cleaning the atomizer - I have watched/read countless threads and videos and have yet to find a 100% safe way to clean the atty without a possibility of destroying the wick etc.

3.) Can I drip right into the atty like a 510 if I hit a dry spot? Or should I just vape through it?

For the time being I am just using the tank battery with my 510 atty/cart just to be sure I'm not vaping plastic until I find out for sure I wont be inhaling plastic.

Thanks for your help! (I know I'm a newbie :2cool: )

Doesn't look like the US/UK vendors have them, sorry I buy from the factories.
I didn't know the vendors were so far behind in China tech. Nothing wrong with US built e-cigs I have a few but I like to see what the Chinese come up with.

for the dry spots I just blow into it for a second or two. A few puffs later then heaven. Also if they werent blank tanks maybe that rancid prefilled juice hasnt worked its way out. I tried the prefilled because it came with my kit and I dont like to waste much and it was by far the worst experience not just dumping it out and filling with my own liquid.

1. Do you have the hard plastic "overflow prevention caps" or the soft silicon ones?
I find that the hard ones can leave a bit of a plasticy taste sometimes when the atomizer heats up from multiple or very long drags, but have had no problems with the silicone ones myself.

2. I take the wick plate out when doing a deep cleaning with good success, most of the time a alcohol soak seems to do the trick. As a note I don't use dark juices in my T atomizers.

3. I drip on the T attie when I get the infrequent dry hits, I usually put 3 drops in the attie aiming for the spike, add my tank and vape away. Have a type A drip tip on the way to test if I can use the T atties for dripping that way.

All the best,
Wing.

I find the tank atty's need a much better clean before they get rid of bad flavors, primers or juices.. there's several cleaning methods on ECF but I personally have found that removing the needle plate and doing a dry burn and boil/soak to be the most effective one.

If you find you are getting dry hits with an atty you are convinced is clean you might need to adjust the wick a bit up or down, it should be flush with the longer side of the needle but sometimes it gets pushed down when punching through a fresh cart

Try this, take the needle plate off and drip directly onto the coil (don't replace the needle plate.. but watch you don't lose it), use an empty cart without the plastic cap as a mouthpiece.. instant dripping atty!

When it gets dry, you want to take a few primer puffs; if you just drip, you're just adding to what's in the wick already, without helping that juice get down into the coil. The primer puffs pull the juice down into the coil-- you can flood the atty if you do too much, but, like anything else vaping, you can get the knack of it.

There are several ways you can get plastic/burning taste. If you don't leave a li'l air in the tank when you fill it, you will get a sort of 'vapor-lock' it won't seize entirely, but the wicking action won't keep up with your vaping, and you'll start to taste like burning. Also, if the tank gets too low, same thing. (my experience with a type-a). Also, the wicks can be adjusted lower and higher in the spike: closer to and further from the coil-- if it's too high, you can get that sort of thing.

A safer clean-- as far as your worries about the wick-- is to do an alcohol soak, and a better one is to follow that with some ultrasonic jewelry cleaner time. But, eventually, if you don't yank the wick-plate and do a deeper clean, the build up on the wick and on the coil will render the atty pretty useless-- I don't know how long one can go with just soaking, though, before the atty gets that bad (maybe I'll run that test...)

All real cleaning runs the risk of losing your wick: there's always the chance that the build-up on the wick has fused to the build-up on the coil-- when you yank the wick-plate (required for a good clean), if this has happened, then your wick will stay put. If it's well built, and you're careful with tweezers, you could probably salvage it, but at that point, I usually make a new one. So, that's always a risk. If you notice a very sudden drop in vapor production and a sort of 'cottony' super-muting of the flavor, your wick has probably fused. I've found that darker juices are harder on this atty, irrespective of pg/vg ratio-- the stuff caramelizes on the wick and coil.

Also, never dry-burn with the wick in. I've read posts around both for and against doing any dry-burn on any atty at all, but on the SR type-a, I've only popped one coil so far; If you dry-burn with the wick in, you're most likely going to fuse your wick.

If you do pull the wick-plate out, and want to freshen up the wick, go ahead and burn off the excess juice with a butane lighter-- the juice will catch fire, but that's okay: once that stops, you know you've gotten rid of all of the excess.

As with any maintenance, YMMV;

Hope this helps.
