Hey!
I got my Ego-T just over a week ago and I think I may have broken it already...

After about 6 days, it started to taste a bit funny so I emailed the retailer and asked how to clean the atomiser. The reply was
'Cleaning the atomizer - pour yourself a glass of coke and drop the atomizer into it for an hour, the coke action will clean it for you, just don't drink the coke afterwards, rinse in cold water and leave to thoroughly dry before putting back on the battery...'

I've since left it to dry and now it's utter rubbish... no vapour, no taste, no nothing!

Luckily, I've got a spare as two came in the pack but I'm a bit annoyed tbh!

I've read a few posts extolling the virtues of the 510-tank over the Ego-T so I'm wondering about sending this one back and getting the 510 instead... I smoke about 20 roll-ups a day (I'm a student and poor!) although this is likely to rise as essays are due in... I'm a definite convert to E-cigs so if there's someone out there that can help with my current Ego-T problem or strongly recommend the 510Tank (giving explicit cleaning instructions preferably :p ) I'd be incredibly grateful!

I've read alot about cleaning atomizers. Some say put it in hot (not boiling) water or vinegar, but I've also read people saying that damaged theirs.

So far (and I've only had mine 3 weeks) I blow out the atomizer thoroughly when I switch flavors. I have 2, so I alternate back and forth as well, giving it time to dry from any moisture in my breath. I've also blown it out with canned air as well, but very carefully. I don't want the icy air that comes out if you use the canned air too long to damage the atomizer.

Blowing them out seems to work really well, and I haven't experience any flavor blending. I've already had a battery fail, but my original 2 atomizers are still going strong.

Hope that helps

Thanks! Blowing through it has definitely got the vapour coming through but now it tastes like I've chain smoked 50 cigarettes in as many minutes and it smells a bit... Actually, it's beginning to taste a little better...I wonder if it just needed 'pulling through'...

I'm wondering how often atomisers need cleaning too... this whole cleaning thing has really freaked me out!

Whenever I start to use a "clean" atomizer I start with a drip or two directly into the atomizer. After awhile you might start to taste a little burnt taste again, and I usually drip into the atomizer again at that point. And top off my cartridge at the same time. I'm not sure how the tank system works, so I'm not sure if you can do that exactly.

Like I said before, I've only been doing it 3 weeks, so I'm not sure if its perfect, but it seems to avoid that burnt taste for the most part.

I'm a newb, but I feel I've read voluminous amounts of vape-related education & I've absorbed a lot from experience, and soaking in Coke just sounds ridiculous! I can fathom that the effervescence can potentially help a little, but all that high fructose corn syrup & other gunk must adversely affect the atty. If someone actually does this and/or can vouch for its effectiveness, please correct me, but that sounds insane.

When I used eGo-T attys, here's what I did: if you have an instant coffeemaker, I run the water (sans coffee of course) into a bowl, with which I held the tank atty in the stream of hot water, spike side up. I do this for two full pots. Then I blow out the atty's excess water. I then did either of the two things: I sat the atty on the window sill to get some sun for 2 days, or if I really wanted to use it right away, I'd fire it dry for ~3 seconds to dry the wick. The latter doesn't totally dry it but it seemed to work in a pinch. Then, I dripped 2 drops of juice directly onto the pin (you'll need to aim a little) to get the wick "wicking", then plug the tank in. Let it sit for a few minutes, then take about 5-10 dry hits (don't inhale) to get the wick fully saturated. It should work fine after that.

I've had that "chain smoked 50 cigarettes" effect as well, it is a throat-searing, burnt tasting experience if you don't clean it properly or you try to use it while the wick is too dry. Blech!

When exams come up, make sure you have a pack of blank cartos around. Murphy's Law says that's the time for all of the atties to break down. :p

5 cheap backups are better than adding "stalking mailman" into your schedule at exam time. :)

I personally really like cartos because I'm just lazy and I hate flavours mixing with others. I have an eGo-T atty and I haven't yet heard of the difference between that and the "510 Tank", but I was cleaning it way too often so I just use that for a long term dedicated flavour now.

Also, I've heard that some people just need to wait a bit longer to dry and it works better. You can also try rinsing with Vodka or something like Everclear to "wash" the water out faster. (I just soak it in vodka to begin with, but I'm totally going to try this Coke thing!) Some people say you shouldn't use Isopropyl Alcohol for this purpose though.

I've also tried boiling it for a very long time and then setting it in the empty pot on the warm burner to dry faster. It still works fine, but I could still taste flavour. :)

Wow guys, thanks for all getting back to me!

It seems to be working a little better than it was last night so I think it probably was a drying issue. I think it's the acidity of the coke that supposed to get rid of the rubbish in the atomiser... just think what it can do to your teeth! I can't say I'll be doing it again though.

I'm definitely thinking of buying backups to this- probably the 510 because I hear such good things and it's a lot cheaper than another Ego-T...

I've looked on the JOYE website as I'm guessing they're the original manufacturers and they recommend using an ultrasonic cleaner like you might use for jewellry so I think I might put one of those on my list for Santa...this guy seems to know a lot about it too... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rasonic-cleaning-atomizers-very-best-way.html

Do yourself a favor and invest between 6 and 10 bucks on some cartomizers for your finals or whatever fill it and forget it, as long as you keep it topped off you will be fine and you won't have to worry about cleaning it as long as you use the same flavor and keep it wet. If you take it off your pv or change to a different carto or to your ego-t make sure you put the condoms back on your carto so that it doesn't dry out hope this helps. one more thing ego-t attys are high maintanence but a carto is pretty much fill and go.
