eGo-T Mod and the Kick

I have a question for any eGo-T mod users we may have around here. Have you considered or tried using an 18500 battery in your T mod tube so that you have room to run a Kick? I'm not familiar with the T mod's circuitry, but if it's simple, the Kick might run well in the T Mod in "unregulated" mode.

Then again, the Kick might not work at all. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a Kick coming in for a Bolt of mine and would like to have the same wattage control on a T Mod I have if possible. I like the T Mod just fine, but consider the voltage swap between regulated and unregulated states to a painfully limited feature.

Two totally different devices and application. FWIW the T2 is disappointing because you will not get a regular voltage coming out in the unregulated mode. As the battery wanes so does performance. The new eGo circuitry from Joytech puts out 3.3/4 under load. The old circuitry put out 3.2/3 unloaded. So what does that mean. The unregulated T2 head probably puts out 3.5/6 under load with a fresh battery and that output declines as the battery wanes.

Now it is never advisable to mix 2 circuitries in the same device. It may fry one board or both. The operative word being "may". What part of the circuit is by passed in the T2 head in unregulated mode is anyones guess. That being said, I doubt the mosfet would be capable of handling the kicks current at higher wattages.

Thanks for your very good reply, Switched. My thought was the Kick would provide some circuit protection (at least maybe for the battery and spring if nothing else) as well as a form of regulation but, I think your concern for whether the Mod's mosfet would be able handle the current of a cranked-up Kick nails the issue on the head. Anyway, I'm dying to try the rig, but I think I love my money too much to watch about $100 of it go up in smoke. On the other hand, if my curiosity does manage to somehow conquer my good sense, I'll meter it all and let you nice folks know the results. Again, thanks for the input. BTW, I love your work!

No problem I like helping folks out where I can. I truly appreciate folks that asks questions first, instead of acting on a gut shot and complaining about it later. You are correct in presuming the kick will protect itself and the battery, that is a given. We are on the same page wrt what happens to the T2 assy, that one is a pig and a poke.
