My guess is that i got a Dud attie and it only worked for 3 days straight, Now i got my new ones in so no big deal, But How do i clean these atties? Do i clean them the same way i did my old ones? How is everyone cleaning their tank Atties?
TIA
Tara

There are those who are cleaning them in boiling water.

There are those who are cleaning them in alcohol.

There are those who are cleaning them via a water rinse and dry-burn.

There are opinions..... but no convincing consensus.!

I soak mine in alcohol for about 5 minutes then I let it dry over night. Only problem with this is that it leaves the atty bone dry the next day, which is good, I guess but it makes it hard for the wick to soak up the juice when I load another cart onto it. So what I did was drop a couple of drops of juice right onto the atty and then put on the cart. That seemed to work fine. Also, I've heard of people removing the paint on their atty using alcohol. I haven't had a problem with it, personally, but it's something to consider. I think it has something to do with how long you soak the atty in the alcohol, which is why I only do it for 5 minutes.

Pop the needle plate and wick off. Burn the wick with a lighter until it glows red and you burn all the gunk off and the wick turns white again. Rinse the wick and needle plate under your tap with a low flow of water. Rinse the atty out with hot water. Dry the battery end with a paper towel. Dry burn the atty without the wick in place. Rinse the atty again with hot water. Reassemble the atty and enjoy. I do this once a week and I am still on my original three type B atties, and it's been around 3 or 4 months now without a problem for me.

That´s why i don´t throw them whole into alcohol, but pour small amount ao it into an atty. To prevent alcohol to leak from bottom, iseal the bottom with silicone condom. First, condom from boge 510 carto, which covers the thread (i cut off top of it as its too long), and then, to fix it in place, eGo Tank´s condom. No drop leaks. You can leave it there for hours. No paint off. Alcohol saving.

I clean mine by rinsing and blowing out several times with tap water. Next, they get a bath in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, first with 35% isopropyl alcohol, then with distilled water followed by air drying. I blow them out between steps. Times in the ultrasonic are 60 min per step. They come out like brand new...:2cool:

I'm also curious... want to get rid of a lingering buttery flavor from a previous tank of buttered popcorn, hasn't disappeared in 2 tankfuls of other juice. But its my only tank atty at the moment, would like it to last.

That buttered popcorn flavor can be a stubborn ghost indeed! I suspect you'll have to use alcohol in some form to exorcise it.
