Do i understand this correctly that a MAP tank is a plastic chamber into which a chopped down E2 cartomizer has been grafted to create a sort of cartomizer tank? When the atomizer fails do you replace it with another chopped E2?

Is there such a thing as a commercially produced cartomizer tank? Is that what a clearomizer is supposed to be?

I have had an EGO tank for two weeks but i'm frustrated with the leaks and fading atomizers. Any body making clone tanks yet--preferably out of metal.

Recommendations for a non-filler close to drip experience?

MAP tank is like a bigger, better, thicker clearomizer. Yes, you can just replace the CE2 with another (use pipe cutter).

A clearomizer is a cartomizer, but thin plastic instead of steel tubing. The size restriction causes wicking issues and burnt taste.

Your options to a 'close to drip' experience would be:
- MAP tank or mini MAP tank
- VapeMate (made by SuperT Manufacturing)

Right now I'd say the MAP Tank is the best of the 3. I use it and clearomizers. If you go with a MAP then make sure to use the Steel ce2's since the clearomizer guts are too narrow to make a seal.

I like clearomizers, after about 10 seconds of tinkering with them I get a good vape. It doesn't wick as well as a MAP Tank due to its' narrow size. I find I have to turn my ProVari down by up to a ½ volt for it to work its' best. It is the flimsy tubes that are a PITA. You can make a good new tube out of a 3ml BD MonoJect syringe. A syringe mod makes them almost as good as a MAP. Clearomizers make good drippers too.

I read precious few good things to say about Ego Tanks. For just a few bucks more you can get a MAP tank.

The makers of the clearomizers are coming out with something they call a Giantomizer very soon. It's like a MAP tank sized version of a clearomizer but it has a metal sheath that screws on over it that will (hopefully) make it durable. I believe it also has a thicker wick than either the clearos or the MAPs. I hope it is good but I'll keep my initial order small. I am keeping an eye on GotVapes.com for the arrival of that one.

Since you already own ego equipment, you might try out the mega system for it. there are two types of mega attys (mega cone and mega cylinder). I went with the 2.5 ml cylinder as a back-up system in case I start having the sorts of problems with my tank system that other people (such as yourself) have been talking about. - Other than some gurgling that seems to be unavoidable with the megas, I'm really quite impressed with the performance specifically where vapor production, flavor, and TH are concerned. - I've only been using my mega alternating with my tank since Friday, so I can't say whether or not it will "fade".

I disagree about the eGo Mega. I have the mega with the LR attys and I hate them. The gurgling is beyond annoying, they dont wick right and the burnt taste from the megas is way far worse than anything experienced on the eGo-T's.

But hey, if you want to buy some barely used and some totally unused mega carts and atty's, PM me, I'll sell you mine.

I bought 4 ego-T atomizers (from volcanocigs) I haven't had an issue with burnt but lots of problems with leaking and flooding. my current workaround after it leaks is to swap in the blank tip they shipped it with and vape until the overflow goes dry. This is surprisingly effective and lasts just about as long as my old 510 regular carts with PTB filler. However 2 of the 4 atomizers are starting to act clogged and i am steeling myself to do a thorough cleaning--but i'm waiting to get some fresh atomizers and such which i have on order so that if the cleaning fails (as unfortunately seems to be my luck when it comes to cleaning atomzers) i will still have solid set of new atomizer backups.)

the tank is a step forward from dripping/carts--my first two days with it were a pleasure--but it seems finicky and a bit unpredictable. I'm going to start--look for another thread about living with the Tank--gottabe a learning curve.

My suspicions/rules so far:
--70%pg 30% vg juice is optimal (too much pg leaks, too much vg burns)
--if dry take out the chad if wet, leave chad in
--don't bite the tank mouthpiece (duh)
--if it floods, pull the tank off and vape using blank tip (I don't have a suitable drip tip --will make one next weekend)
--alternate flood strategy--pull the thing apart, blow it clean--start with fresh tank
--don't drop the pv (duh) (mouthpiece cracks easily, little parts disappear into carpet, car seat, nether world under desk)
--nightly regime--blow completely clear and leave on paper towel to air out

I need the "modders" to get to work and develop a way that I can use "cut" or "removed" clearo's to rebuild my MAP Tank. You see, I was so thrilled with the clearo, (the first one I used), that I ordered a gross of the things. Who knows why, prolly my paranoia over possible banning. Or, just the fact that I'm a cheap sob, and tend to bulk buy everything. My best way out is to somehow use um. Prolly best way is in the MAP. If it's just a matter of Clearo being a slightly smaller diameter, seems some bright modder could find a filler barrel that would allow them to be used in the MAP. Sorry for the hyjack.

Cheers,

OaklandCA, I'm not sure how much juice you want it to hold, but I just picked up a pack of 5 SmartCarts from Clouds of Vapor for $3.99. Im not a cart guy myself...but I got tired of burning through 1.5LR cartos and having to refill them constantly. If you have some LR 510 attys (make sure they have the high pointy bridge, im using the Joye LR 510's), these things are great! They're also stealth compared to the tanks and the clearomizers, all black with a small window on each side to view the juice level. The downfall is, they only hold 1ml of juice and you have to use a syringe to fill them...but eh, you get 5 of these things...for $3.99! haha. I have the MAP tank and the Ego-T attys, they're just not consistent in my opinion and I vape LR...so its not the same. So far I havent flooded my atty with these yet...and the vapor production has been consistent.

I made my own (see picture on left) - it's not pretty and not good for travel because it will leak if tipped on its side... But great for in the house.. 6ml bottle and the clearo xl fits right in. I use an elastic from when my son had braces for the bottom o ring and it hasn't leaked out the bottom.

You can do what 'rudy' does or get a 3ml BD syringe and they'll fit the clearomizers w/o modification. You may even be able to cut down a section of the BD syringe, about 3/8"-1/2" to use in the MAP.

Yes, I am honest... to a fault and Well, some people swear by the mega's. I just havent been able to get them to work properly for me at all and I'm not of the mind to have to fiddle with it much, which is why I quickly moved away from carts and fillers and bought the eGo-T (which I still love in spite of the very few shortcomings it has), and now the map tank.

The one thing about the map tanks is, you MUST stand them upright or the juice will leak right out the drip tip. No big deal in my opinion and a very small and insignificant price to pay for such an awesome vape and I can use them on my current eGo batts. The map tank is awesome for me so far, and I absolutely love it. I just was able to order another one yesterday, and they are already gone. They go super fast. The map tank cost about as much as 2 eGo-T attys.. this is really a no brainer in my opinion. When the ce2 burns out, you replace it yourself, a 5 pack costs about $12 and you'll need a $5 pipe cutter.

They need to pump up the production on these maps... they cant seem to supply enough for everyone who wants them.

ok i want to try the MAP tank but first a question. i have noticed that most flavors are EXTREMELY muted in the eGo tank, unless its something like Fire & Ice or Cinnabomb or Atomic Cinnacide. How is the flavor with MAP tanks compared to the eGo tank?

I'm trying to get systematic now--having read dozens of conflicting opinions about which atomizers and cartomizers are worth adamn--and having conflicting opinions and changing opinions myself about the ones i have so far ordered.

i couldn't find a "sampler pack" of a broad cross section of atomizers in any one place so i'm just going to work my way down the list (esp at places with low shipping costs. ) I want only things that fit properly on ego batteries w 510 threads.

I'm going to past a new thread asking people to help create a "master list" or at least ask around to see if one exists.
I'm going to work through them before i start buying the mods but the MAP is certainly looking promising.
