Can the EGO USB battery (the one kind of like a Passthrough) be charged with a typical USB wall charger/adapter? ...or does it need to be be a charger which is EGO specific?

I think any USB supply should suffice? I use one wall charger for my phone, a mp3 player etc. I think most of the chargers that ecig suppliers sell are generic anyhow! 
well then I either have a faulty battery or (and no disrespect here) I am not getting correct info. If I plug my ego into any USB outlet the light on the charger turns off. Also it is my understanding that the end of the battery (where the usb port is located) is supposed to turn red when its charging. I'm not getting the red light. I just received my ego yesterday so i know I can return it if need be. This is my first ego so I am not familiar with all the particulars.

It works for me. I just pluged it in my riva wall charger and all lights are on and the battery is charging
Thanks for the info kellie...but you have a charger for the Riva - which pretty much is the same as an ego. All I currently have is my kr808d-1 wall outlet. So I'm curious if anyone knows if any "non specific ego/riva" wall charger should work?
If I push the button on the battery it blinks like 15 times so I know its not totally DOA.

ahhh you edited your post since my reply . i was assuming you were asking about using an ego wall charger instead of the usb cord .. and now you add in that your using a kr808d charger ....
if i'm not mistaken the kr808 connections are reversed polarity wise which would explain

So it sounds like no one (at this point) really knows. I still have my hopes that someone out there knows this answer.
if your battery didn't explode and all that happened is that you tripped the protection circuit on the charger , then yes .
and that also depends on my recollection of the polarity thing .
you say that the battery still blinks , so you should be ok .
a $10 multimeter should be in every vapors tool kit , then you'd know for sure .
anything beyond that is just speculation .
always use the proper charger for the battery you're charging . these things can and do blow up ya know .

I agree with you about the proper charger. I guess I will know for sure when my ego charger comes in.
I'm sorry, I am no electrical technician. Seeing as I had both here in front of me, I was hoping that if I listed the specifics, one would jump in and save your day.
I had the exact same problem in another post: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/101946-mega-ego-charger-question.html The 'output' ratings for the KR808 charger just aren't enough to power the eGo - AT ALL! BTW, 0.08A=80mA. Some told me it'd just take longer, but that's incorrect.
As long as the wall adapter 'output' rating isn't more than the 500mA an eGo charger uses, you won't blow up the battery, it just won't ever charge..
I got the right one from GP this month for under $5.
