I just ordered an ego kit from madvapes, got it in today, really really quick shipping. But upon trying them out I noticed I get a whole lot less flavor than in my regular 510 and its really really harsh. At first I thought it was primer, and it definitely had some in it, but at this point I'm 99% sure it's all out but the flavor of it is still lingering. I tried out one of my other attys on it and i still had the barely getting flavor issue. Tried multiple different types of juices.

Every now and then, though, I get good flavor out of it. This is always right after thoroughly blowing and cleaning it out of a napkin. Maybe the liquid is getting burnt? I've just been using it the same way as my original 510, less drops than I was using in that atty though; only 2-3 in the ego atty. Should I be doing something different? I read that they are really prone to flooding, is burning a symptom of flooding?

Also I dripping 3 drops after clearing, and watched it vaporize and I saw that the atty was actually producing a bit of light on the inside... is that normal?

basically I need a rundown of egos I think, and some known common issues.

Yes - problems getting to the site all day.

Did the Ego come with an LR atty? That would vape hotter and increase the TH and hit.

And did you get the primer off the atty before you started vaping?

This kit right here 510 eGo XL Kit with Carrying Case

so 2.5 ohm, which is standard I think. And I've been blowing them out and repriming them every time I needed a smoke for the past 5 hours, so I'm pretty sure the primer is gone lol. I think I'm having an issue with burning the juice, after a quick google search the taste others describe is really similar to what I'm getting. Think it's just because I'm not used to the huge battery? I've been vaping it the same way I was vaping the 180 mah battery, and this one is a 900 mah

On a good note is that I'm getting a hell of a lot of vape out of them; actually gave me a bit of a buzz which I haven't gotten in a long time.

2.5 Ohms is a standard atomizer, alright. The juice probably isn't being burned, though because the voltage wouldn't be high enough. The mAh of a battery only indicates how long it will last between charges, not how much voltage it generates. eGo batteries are only around 3.4V and run at 3.2V under load, so that isn't the issue.

It could be that you didn't get all the primer out of the atty before you started using it. Try rinsing it out in some plain hot water and letting it dry overnight, then try it again. New atties sometimes a day to be broken in. It could also be the flavors you're using with the new battery. I think some flavors taste different between a regular 510 and an eGo, too. Some flavors are just harsher than others even though they might have the same PG/VG mix.

Bit of an update; after clearing out both of them really well, the burnt flavor was gone! That was until about 5 puffs into it and burnt flavor came back =[. Could be like you said, WoH, and I just need to break them in. Bit worried about the light that was coming out of one of the attys though, it's not doing that anymore. Any reason to be concerned about that?

Sorry about all the questions lol

edit: note to self: dekang virginia now tastes exactly like soy sauce when smoked through new atomizer. Take necessary precautions.

Light coming out an atty? You mean it was glowing? Sounds like the atty is getting too hot.

The big battery should be the same voltage, maybe .2 more than a slim 510. Did you have a manual battery on your slim 510? You know to press in about 1/2-1 second before dragging then let up about 1 second before you finish your drag?

The light is the coil. They get red hot after a few seconds, and will glow. Its normal. 5-6 hits from 3 drops is normal also, especially when your breaking it in. You will burn that primer out of the wick slowly. But after an hour it should be gone, and only good juice in the wick. Burnt taste will happen anytime it gets dry. But you have a standard atty on a longer lasting battery. Nothing new, except a lot less chasing down your charger. Sounds like your just new to dripping, or your carts have too much batting in them. Both are learning curves.

I had no luck with the Ego extra large carts and attys. The vape was not burned, but I found it very harsh with no flavor. Tried everything under the sun, but with the same result.

Went back to my 510 and driping at home and cartomizers on the road.

At the price they charge for these things, it's not worth the trouble. I am done with the ego style battery since I have had so m

The new ePower looks as sleek as the ego and offers a replaceable battery and switch. Kit with two batteries is $45 from madvapes

I don't understand the reasoning. You don't like the eGo mega stuff. That I understand. I've seen mixed reviews on almost all of it but, why not use the 510 stuff on the eGo battery? It should work the same as any 510. What problem do you have with the battery?

My bad and I should have explained better. Since April 20 of last year when I quit analogs, I have had 8 Ego batteries die on me; two of them went catastrophically when they began to smoke and get really hot. Fortunately, I was using them at the time and was able to dump them in a sand bucket. It was not an atty shorting, since the smoking did not stop when I removed the atty.

I also had 3 Rivas fail because of the switch collapsing into the housing. There are ads out there now advertising a newer switch style for the Riva.

I have gone over to units such as the Icon (all mechanical) and ePower (regulated) with replaceable batteries and switches for when I am out and about since they are both small and compact. LiIons will fail and are rated for about 300-500 charges, but I can get a good brand of battery from China for a few dollars vs. $15-$25 for an self contained unit.

The ePower could be a real winner since it costs $45 for a kit with two 1050 mAh batteries, charger, 5 carts, and two 510 attys.
It will not (yet) take any of the ego mega whatever, but it is only a question of time before someone comes up with an adapter.

Since I do not like the bigger mega attys/cartomizers for the ego, I am quite happy with my kit the way it is. I am certainly better off financially.

A battery extender / 510 to 510 adapter should od the job, I use it for my mods.

The ego megas were disappointing attys for me only due to the carts, I recently purchaced some Mega SmartCarts 2nd Edition for the ego mega type A cone attys. With a small piece of blue foam they work very well, as they are fairly new I'm not sure how they will last for weeks of vaping.
