Ok, so I've been reading and watching video's on VV and VW and stuff like that. I'm happy with my kanger mini Protank 2 but now I've got the bug of looking at all the different kinds of models to vape with. I came across the eGrip Oled and I like the idea of being able to control VV or VW although I don't fully understand it just yet. The cost is a major investment for me at about $100 shipped to my door the next day. What say you for someone like myself who is knew to vaping? Should I just stick to what I have for now and let the extra toys alone until I have gain more experience? That OLED display keeps calling me. By the way, my friend thought I was smoking a crack pipe yesterday. I had to explain to her that I'm not on drugs.

I think I just found another more affordable alternative to the eGrip OLED. It's the eleaf iStick 30 Watt. Still allows me to use my Kanger mini Protank 2 while giving me the options to mod which I really like. My local vapeshop has it for $40. That's more within my price range. I'm going to go check this out today.

hi @greenjas. The eGrip might be a very nice unit (I have no experience with it), but 20W is under powered for most of todays tanks. In order to buy something with room to grow into the next experience of vape (for instance sub ohms) you would need at least 30W. I'd suggest something like the 30W iStick. It has a proven track record and is very user friendly (and has an LED screen). You can get one for around $30 by shopping and coupons. eLeaf iStick is comong out with a 40W with temp control for about $35 on some sites, but it hasn't hit the shelves yet (do a google and you'll find it) Temp control is a protection to keep you from dry hits, and in my opinion, it's the next big thing that all battery companies will move into. You can put a Nautilus Mini or a Subtank mini on the iStick and get a great vape.

Another possibility is the Kanger Subbox kit. For around $60 it has a subtank and a 50w mod (battery). You'd still need to buy a couple batteries (18650 @$10 each) and I recommend a separate battery charger ($20) so you aren't tethered to the mod when it's recharging. It has a subtank and you can purchase the factory coils so you don't have to rebuild them. SPECIALS - Vape Super Saver <--I've shopped here, great service, 4 days to my door.

That $100 thats burning a hole in your pocket is called "shineyitis". It afflicts us all. Good luck in your journey.

Agree istick or kanger Subbox, perfect for upgrade. Alows room to grow.vv, vw. You need to checkout ohms law, volts ohms and watts go hand in hand. I'm still kinda new also, but from what I understand if set to watts and you change coil resistances the device will adjust volts to keep same watts.if your not changing coils it really shouldn't matter much. Wish I could explain better.

I'd probably go with an iStick 50w mod. You can turn a 50w mod down to 20w, but not a 20w up to 50. Using my Fogger RTAs, coiled at about .5 ohm, I like 25-35 watts power. Not running down the eGrip; it's a nice mod and Joye is a reputable company. But I think it a bit under powered. You can buy an authentic 50w iStick from a US seller all day under 60 bucks on eBay (pay what you want for shipping) and if you look around, Google for discount codes, etc., you can beat that from vape shops online. Another alternative is hit the classifieds here, if lightly used doesn't bother you. Expect to want to change attys in the future. That protank 2 is nice-- I have several I'd be happy to sell you :) -- but it's vape-pen stuff. Great for pocket carry and not blowing a lot of bucks if you lose it. Carry it in your pocket on the airplane; that way if TSA decides you're a terrorist and confiscates it you haven't lost much. Good for fishing trips in case it goes overboard, etc. Still, if you move up into higher power, you're going to want more tank. There's plenty of advice available here when you're ready.

Welcome to the club, and happy vaping.

Here's one I did over in the TC thread on how amps/volts/watts relate to battery capacity, if you're interested. Or PM if you have questions. I'll try to help. Joyetech Evic VT 60 Watt | Page 98 | E-Cigarette Forum

Thanks. I called my vapeshop and they says they have the istick for $45 a $7 difference than what's listed on the internet. I'm thinking of getting that today. I'll have to see.

I'd go iStick. I don't have the OLED version, but I have two eGrips. They lasted 6 days each and now I have two paperweights sitting on the shelf. Joyetech doesn't have a customer service either. So I highly doubt they fixed the problems of the eGrip with the newer version because it looked like a 2 year old did the soldering on the inside on the older version

Thanks everyone. I went and pickup my iStick 30W. However, I could not afford a better atomizer so I'm stuck with the Kanger mini Protank 2. I leave it set on the lowest setting. I'm planning on buying the Aspire Atlantis. This will cost about $20-30. I had to pawn my soundbar for my UHDTV. I told them don't get comfortable, I'm coming back for my soundbar. Ultra High Def TV isn't the same without a good sound system.

Are you talking about sub ohm, make sure you're comfortable with direct to lung hits. Not like most people smoke. That's why i thought nautilus tank would be good, but if you want to try it you can always go back and forth with what you have until you get used to it.just wanted to mention that.
If you do go back and forth just remember to adjust wattage.
Great to hear that. Congrats:thumbs:
