I actually have the same setup.

Take your battery out and let it set. Make sure your battery is making a flush connection with the contacts and not hitting any side of the mod or some other freak thing. Do you have another battery? try another battery.

Take the button apart as soon as you feel the warmth and see if the inside of the button is hot or is it just the outside.

If it is the outside, your hands are hot. I freak out about 1-3 times per day because I have clammy hands and it feels like my battery is malfunctioning.

It should be at 3.7 volts and a .8 ohm coil within the margin of safety as it is using about 2.64 volts or 17.11 watts and 3.87 amps according to my Ohm's Law calculator. So my question would be about the battery type and rating and next if the battery is shorting some how or the atomizer coils.

It's a 30 amp 18650 battery. Efest brand. Next time it does it, I'll take it apart and see if it's hot inside too. Yesterday the hole tube seemed warm.

Oh ... its an Efest  ... do you have another 650 you could use with a 10amp or higher rating? Also, is the bottom of your battery properly shrink wrapped, as is not overly exposed?

That eFest is a good battery. It's an IMR high-drain (I assume). If so, the battery type is an unlikely culprit.

Exposure of the cell, as you alluded to, could be a problem.
