I live in Texas and it is routinely 100 degrees at this time of year, during the daytime when vapemail is delivered.
I don't always get it right away so sometimes it sits, in what I imagine is about a 140 degree mailbox, for a few hours.

When I open the mailbox, it smells like heaven, the liquids are thin and HOT! I usually shake them vigorously on the way into the house, put them on the coffee table and shake every hour or so. Next morning, I put them in a coolish, (I keep the house at 80 degrees) dark cabinet. I mostly remember to shake them every day or two.

I never leave the caps off for any length of time. I love lots of flavor and don't want any of it escaping!! Guess I'm hoping the chemical smell/taste is dissipated during that process, so airing it out is not necessary. What are the chances, if I never leave the caps off?

I also wonder, as I read reviews where someone is saying this or that juice is horrible, if they've allowed it to steep long enough or at all. You would think as many times as they have seen that recommendation on seller websites and here in the forums, they would have but can there really be that much crappy juice out there?
Hoping not!!

I've read that leaving the caps off to allow air in is mainly for alcohol based liquids and tobaccos. But I could have misread?

IMHO steeping times and rituals are subjective to a point. Sort of like taste.

I do believe steeping however u wish to do this does help allowing liquids to meld and mature a bit. I've found now that I have a huge supply of various liquids that it gets easier to wait for the perceived right moment to Vape that new liquid. But in the beginning no way hose, had to try right away, lol.

There are juices that taste crappy to people - even juices other people like.
Personal preference, and widely varied taste sensation.

I've had popular juice and hated it. I've had juice that tasted to me like chemicals with some perfume - which got a LITTLE better after a few weeks...but not enough for me to vape it.
But yeah - I think you're right, my mailbox is a steeper-oven.
