I think my coil might be done. My ejuice is turning very dark in the tank and tastes like burnt marshmallows! The only coils I have are 1.8 ohm, the one I have in the tank now that I think might be done is a 2.2. My question is can I use a 1.8 ohm coil with a 3.7V battery? Very new to this and when I bought new coils I had no clue what resistance to get. :(

Any coil should work with any battery. What kind of device are you using? Sounds like you just need a new coil or atty. They gunk up over time but it's no biggie:

kangertech EVOD

Nice little kit! The atties on those are replaceable, they're supposed to last a couple of weeks. After that the residue from you juice builds up on the coil inside and a) turns the juice brown and b) restricts the airflow. You'll get a more powerful hit from it with the lower ohm atomiser but either will work.

If you have a replacement just pop that on and discard the old one. If you don't have a spare you could always try dry burning it to burn off that gunk to get a little more use out of it:

if it's a pre-built (factory) coil with cotton already in it, dry burning may not be a good idea - may burn your cotton/ wicking - and if you burn the wicking, the coil is basically toast..

you can soak an old/ used coil overnight in pga then hit it with a hot water rinse and let it air dry to get some extra mileage out of it, depending on how gunked it has gotten...

The 1.8 ohm coil will work just fine with your Evod. The ohms for the Kanger coil are etched on the bottom of the coil. Check to see what your old coil is, and compare the flavor, draw, etc. to the 1.8 coil. Order the one you prefer. I usually get our Kanger coils from Mt. Baker Vapor, Sweet Vapes, or Sun Vapers. They are fairly inexpensive. Just make sure that you are ordering Kanger Single Coils - I assume that you are using the original Evod, not the Evod 2. If you are using the Evod 2 or Evod Glass, you need the Kanger dual coils.

It is a single coil and the original evod

for what it is worth, juice darkening is simply a function of time/ oxidation - does not really indicate coil condition, per se - keep in mind, darker/ sweeter juices will tend to gunk a coil up faster, though

I noticed restricted airflow then today with I a few hours the juice was very dark and now it tastes burnt

I'll chime in and say that stick battery can handle as low as a 1.5ohm coil. The only difference is the 1.8ohm will be a little more warmer vape and a little more throat hit as the ending wattage at the coil is higher compared to the 2.2ohm. You can also with the Evod coil head to extend its life, wiggle the top stem off, carefully remove the silica wicking, get some organic cotton balls, tear off a small pinch, roll the pinch out into a thin strand, then feed the strand into the coil wire, takes some practice to get it right, replace the stem, trim the excess off, reprime the new cotton wicking, and go on about your vaping business.

Thanks! I will try the 1.8 ohm coils and maybe play around with the old one. I also have an aspire et-s tank that I maybe could use but I find it makes the ejuice taste metallic. Not nice.
