This stuff does work well,i do not use the wire rope i get the Ceramic rope from them here

McMaster-Carr .It works well on my terminator-c.I will have to pick up some of there wire rope to use for my gene atty's.Thanks i did not know they had wire rope.

Any tips on the ceramic rope? I picked up some of that too but I fear it is too fat, am hoping I can untwist it into 2 strands.
Loosely Twisted Ceramic Rope Seal, 3/8" Diameter, 5 ft Length

Some other goodies I picked up there:
Round Braided Silica Rope Seal, 1/4" Diameter, 5' Length
2600 Degree Fahrenheit Ceramic Sleeving, 1/16" ID, 1/32" to 1/16" Bundle Diameter
2600 Degree Fahrenheit Ceramic Sleeving, 1/8" ID, 3/32" to 1/8" Bundle Diameter
2300 Degree Fahrenheit Silica Sleeving, 3/8" ID, 21/64" to 13/32" Bundle Diameter
Type 316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope, 7X7 Strand, 1/16" Diameter
Type 316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope, 7X7 Strand, 3/32" Diameter
Type 316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope, 7X7 Strand, 1/8" Diameter

Dont know if ANY of it will work but I am determined to explore the various options. Cant wait until Sunday......

Yes, it really caught my attention. Check out this thread on it. I got my rope here. I got some of all three sizes to play with various RBAs. I got it in yesterday, but I wont be able to play with it until Sunday, I am excited about it though. The whole "oxidation" thing is a royal PITA.......

I am assuming this is the rope you are referring to? McMaster-Carr,

@t8kiteasy - the ceramic rope is the twisted not the braided variety, correct?

WOW, that was pricey

I know, had to think about it a bit before I decided to go ahead and get it. If the wife finds out I'm dead. I just haven't been having much luck lately with any of my rba's. My terminator has been consistent but that's about it. Hoping this ekoWool will work even better in it and help with some others.

Yes you do untwist it to get a wick,(3/8' x 5")i usually untwist and cut about 3/4-1' piece to use for a wick.It wicks extremely well,in my terminator-c,and flavor is better than silica wick.

Correct twisted 3/8' x 5 ".

EDIT: Braided could work if you could untwist it in a thin enough strand to fit the terminator-c.The page you have linked is not the ceramic rope page it is for the wire rope.

Got mine in, darn that stuff is fat. It is twisted with only two strands and even split it is huge. Havent had a chance to play with yet, but I am looking forward to try it in my Dripping RBAs.

Yes it is but not hard to get it unwound and cut a piece you need.I have not been able to work with my RDA and see if this wick will work in it because i have been under the weather for the past few days. Not sure what my wife and kids past along to me but i feel horrible.Remember to figure in putting the top cap back on after you have got the coil in place because of the thickness.Looks like you will get around to doing this before i get a chance to.You said you only have two strands untwisted, did you order the smallest rope 1/4' x 5"?

Im confused now..

Isn't ekowool manufacturing silica braided wicks? Latest posts are about wire rope and ceramic sleeves...

Hehe, yes, the topic drifted quite a bit. Ekowool is still a topic of interest though, do you have experience with it?

Uggh, no, I didnt get the 1/4" one, where did you find it? 3/8 was the smallest I saw on this page. I got the loosely twisted style.

1/4 is on the page they are all grouped together by width, length(either in feet,or by spool)so 1/4' would be on the first one to select.I got 3/8' too so i am not sure why yours is so much thinner mine is twisted with 4 strands.

Yea sorry i think i am the one that drove this thread off the original topic, did not do this on purpose, just a responce to one of the posts about a certain wick, sorry.

No need to apologize. :)

I've tried contacting ekowool with no success and I'd like to find some at a reasonable price but no success thus far...:s

So my EKO Wool arrived today from Cloud 9. I did try it out in a A8 that I needed to rewick and never has worked well for me using standard silica or cotton. I used the 2mm and wrapped a 1.7 ohm coil around the Eco Wool and filled the tank. So far it is working great and much better than anything I have tried in it before.

I've been getting good vapor and flavor so far. Wicking speed of the wick is great and no dry hits. I'm impressed.

I did some more testing/messing/playing around and rewicked my Terminator but by that time I was getting tired and I wasn't having much luck and basically struggled through it. I was surprised that it did fire up and is every bit as good as my previous builds with a standard 2 mm twisted silica. I did also use it as a sleeve on some wire rope and but it in my mini DID to see how that would work.

One thing about this Ekowool is it likes to unravel. Any handling at all will make it worse. I did take a piece and torch it until it several times and that did stiffen it up and slowed down the unraveling. Torching it didn't seem to hurt it any or discolor it. I didn't notice any funny smells when heating it either, kinda glowed white.

It is hollow in the middle and pushing it together will increase its size. That is what I did to get a piece of SS wire rope in the middle of it. The sleeve runs the whole length of the wire and seems to work well also. Actually amazingly well, really keeps up with heavy vaping, great flavor and no hot spot problems. Plus easy to set up. Hope some of this makes some sense.

This is how the Ekowool looks with a wire rope in the center.

It slid right into my mini DID and 'so far' is working out great for me. I torched it after I slid the Ekowool on the as rope and it held together well.

I'll give it some time and see how it holds up.
