New to rebuilding (except protanks). I keep finding that I can build the .... out of a coil, quickly, neatly, and in a fashion that is unlikely to result in loss of appendage. My weakness, however, has been something that I can't pinpoint. Trying every way to take my Sigelei 19 apart to change batteries, I move the center post or something and warp my coil assembly from its effective and intended shape. My solution? Hope someone eventually tells me how to correct this issue on ECF. Until then? Old ekowool.

I used a bunch of this 3mm ekowool for my old protanks and have like 30 feet left over. I basically roll a dense SS wick (a little small for my taste). Then torch the ekowool VERY briefly to stiffen it up (god this sounds like 50 Shades of Gray). Insert wick (oxidized in my case, but I bet this method would allow you to skip oxidation past the point of hardening the mesh a bit) into hollow middle of ekowool. Wrap coil pretty much just BASICALLY in the shape you want around the LIQUID portion of the wick, which should be inside the ekowool already. Then, I cut off the liquid end of the ekowool and slide the coil assembly up to the COIL side of the SS wick and trim the excess (but not all) ekowool from the top of the wick. Tighten it in and yer good to go.

The benefits of this setup are overwhelming. I'm sure I still torque the CP somehow and warp the assembly, but it almost doesn't matter at all now. Plus, I leave as much ekowool as possible around the atomizer deck and some at the top. I feel that it moistens the vape and takes some of the genny harshness out. Meters at 1.2 ohms. The only con I can point out is that it produces slightly less vapor. Not sure why maybe the coils aren't heating up as much because they're absolutely soaked with juice. I have also noticed that this technique prevents my Richman RBA from leaking when laid on its side. No more air-hole weeping, either.

Until one of you expert troubleshooters helps me with my center post problem, I'll be utilizing this method forever.

DISCLAIMER-- I have heard of people wrapping SS mesh before. Not claiming to be an innovator at all; just saw something I had, put it together and got positive results. You guys should try it!
